Job Summary

Provide nursing care to patients in OPD, OT, IPD/Day Care and procedure areas.

Responsibilities

- Assess patients and record vital signs, medical history and relevant clinical information.
- Assist ophthalmologists during eye examinations, minor procedures, diagnostic procedures and surgeries.
- Prepare patients for pre-operative investigations, surgery and other ophthalmic procedures.
- Administer prescribed eye drops, oral medications, injections and other treatments as per hospital protocols.
- Provide appropriate pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Monitor patients after procedures and promptly report any complications or abnormal findings to the concerned doctor.
- Assist in maintaining and preparing OT, instruments, surgical equipment and procedure areas.
- Follow proper sterilization, disinfection and infection-control practices.
- Maintain accurate patient records, nursing notes, medication records and other clinical documentation.
- Educate patients and attendants regarding medication, eye drops, post-operative precautions, follow-up and discharge instructions.
- Ensure proper identification of patients before medication, procedures and surgery.
- Handle emergency situations appropriately and provide basic emergency support as required.
- Maintain cleanliness,



safety and proper functioning of nursing equipment.
- Coordinate with doctors, optometrists, technicians, pharmacy, housekeeping and other departments for smooth patient care.
- Ensure proper handover of patients and relevant clinical information between shifts.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, training programs and mandatory nursing education.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge/Senior Nurse.
- Responsible for providing protected, effective and compassionate nursing care to ophthalmic patients across OPD, OT, IPD/Day Care and other clinical areas.
- The Staff Nurse will assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, prepare patients for surgery, administer medications as prescribed, maintain clinical documentation and ensure compliance with infection control and patient safety standards.
