- Set up or program CNC machinery according to job specifications.
- Load and secure workpieces using fixtures, chucks, or vises.
- Execute CNC programs and monitor machine operation for abnormal sounds or vibrations.
- Perform in‑process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet dimensional tolerances.
- Change worn or damaged cutting tools and adjust offsets as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of the machine area, remove chips, and ensure proper lubrication and cooling.
- Perform daily maintenance and basic troubleshooting to reduce downtime.
- Document production processes and adjustments.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.;
- Understanding of CNC machinery, tooling, and machining processes.
- Proficiency with measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM or G‑code is beneficial, especially in advanced roles.
