About QOG
QOG is building technology for the AI-powered workplace.
We help individuals and organizations understand how they work with AI and make better decisions in an AI-driven world.
As an early-stage technology company, you’ll work closely with the founding and engineering team, contribute to building the product from the ground up, and have the opportunity to grow into a part of the founding team.
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented QA Engineer Intern to join our engineering team. This internship is ideal for a fresher or final-year student who has strong programming and software testing fundamentals and wants to build a career in QA and Test Automation.
As a QA Intern, you will work closely with developers, product managers, and senior QA engineers to understand requirements, design test scenarios, identify defects, and develop automated tests that help ensure the quality and reliability of our applications.
You will get hands-on experience with manual testing, test automation, API testing, defect tracking, version control, and CI/CD practices in a real-world software development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand functional and technical requirements and assist in converting them into test scenarios and test cases.
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, and exploratory testing under the guidance of senior QA engineers.
- Develop, execute, and maintain automated test cases for web applications.
- Build automation scripts using Java and Selenium/Playwright.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-structured test automation code.
- Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects using Jira.
- Perform basic API/Web Services testing and validate request/response data.
- Analyze test execution results and troubleshoot failed automated test cases.
- Learn and participate in the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and understand how testing fits into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Work with developers and senior QA engineers to understand defects, verify fixes, and perform regression testing.
- Contribute to regression test suites and improve test coverage over time.
- Gain exposure to CI/CD pipelines and understand how automated tests are integrated into build and release processes.
- Maintain test documentation, test reports, and appropriate test evidence.
- Continuously learn and adopt better testing and automation practices.
Must-Have Skills
Programming Fundamentals
- Solid fundamentals in Java or Python.
- Basic understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms.
- Ability to write and debug simple programs.
- Understanding of exception handling, collections, loops, functions/methods, and basic file handling.
Software Testing Fundamentals
- Basic understanding of software testing concepts and terminology.
- Understanding of SDLC and STLC.
- Familiarity with test scenarios, test cases, functional testing, regression testing, smoke/sanity testing, integration testing, exploratory testing, defect lifecycle, and severity vs. priority.
- Ability to think from a user’s perspective and identify edge cases and potential failure scenarios.
Test Automation
- Basic hands-on experience or academic/project experience with Selenium or Playwright.
- Understanding of locators/selectors, browser automation, waits and synchronization, assertions, and common web elements.
- Basic understanding of automation framework structure and reusable test components.
API & Web Services
- Basic understanding of REST APIs and HTTP.
- Familiarity with GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, and DELETE.
- Understanding of common HTTP status codes.
- Basic exposure to Postman is preferred.
- Ability to understand and validate API request/response data, headers, and JSON responses.
CI/CD & Development Tools
- Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub/GitLab.
- Basic familiarity with Jira or similar defect/project management tools.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Academic, internship, or personal project involving software testing or test automation.
- Experience building a small automation project or test suite.
- Knowledge of JUnit, TestNG, PyTest, or similar testing frameworks.
- Basic understanding of Maven/Gradle if working with Java.
- Basic understanding of SQL and database validation.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- ISTQB Foundation certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
What We Are Looking For
We are particularly interested in interns who:
- Have strong coding fundamentals rather than only theoretical knowledge of testing tools.
- Can solve basic programming and logical problems independently.
- Understand why a test should be written, not just how to execute it.
- Can think critically about edge cases and potential failure scenarios.
- Are curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
- Have a strong interest in test automation and software quality engineering.
- Can communicate clearly and work effectively with developers and other team members.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and are willing to learn from feedback.
Education & Experience
- Pursuing or recently completed B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 0–1 year of experience; freshers and final-year students are welcome to apply.
- Candidates with relevant academic projects, internships, certifications, or personal automation projects are encouraged to apply.
