What You Will Do & Learn
- Master Carbon Standards: Gain hands-on fluency with leading registries and methodologies (e.g., Verra VM0042 / VMD0053, Isometric, Gold Standard) — applicability conditions, eligibility criteria, monitoring requirements, and evidence expectations.
- Write Project Documentation: Draft and compile Project Design Documents (PDDs), monitoring reports, methodology deviation and clarification requests, and supporting scientific narratives that meet registry requirements.
- Own Compliance Mapping: Map project evidence against methodology requirements line by line, maintain requirement-traceability records, and flag gaps between what a methodology demands and what a project holds.
- Support Verification & Audit: Help prepare responses to third-party auditor (VVB) findings and corrective-action requests — drafting transparent, evidence-backed clarifications and rebuttals.
- Maintain the Documentation System: Build and maintain SOPs, document templates, reference libraries, and version-controlled records so project writing stays consistent and reproducible as we scale.
What We Are Looking For
Educational Background
- Master's (preferred) or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Agronomy, Climate / Sustainability Science, Environmental Policy, or a closely related field.
Core Skills
- Exceptional technical and scientific writing — the ability to turn complex science and regulatory requirements into clear, precise, defensible prose.
- Close,
accurate reading of long methodology and regulatory documents, with strong attention to detail.
Core Foundations
- Sound understanding of carbon projects, GHG accounting concepts, or agricultural / soil science fundamentals — enough to reason about what a methodology requires and why.
- Strong document management, referencing, and organisational discipline; ability to take a document from draft to final sign-off independently.
Working Toolkit
- Confident use of word processors, spreadsheets, and reference/citation management. Comfort using AI/LLM-assisted tools to draft, edit, and check documentation is welcome.
BONUS POINTS
- Prior exposure to carbon registries or methodologies (Verra, Isometric, Gold Standard, CDM) through coursework, research, or internships.
- Familiarity with soil organic carbon, regenerative agriculture, or GHG-measurement concepts.
- Experience writing scientific reports, literature reviews, or regulatory / compliance documents.
- Interest in agricultural systems across India, Southeast Asia, or Sub-Saharan Africa.
WHY JOIN VARAHA
- Direct Global Impact: Your documentation directly determines whether climate benefits for farming communities across the Global South get certified and issued.
- Accelerated Career Growth: Build rare expertise in carbon-standard methodology and compliance alongside working scientists and MRV architects.
- Culture of Ownership: We value drive, precision, and follow-through over years of experience.
