Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented General Manager (Operations) / Vice President (Operations) to lead the end-to-end operations of a modern integrated sugar complex comprising Sugar Manufacturing, Bagasse-based Co-generation Power, Distillery and Ethanol operations.
The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational excellence, process optimization, cost efficiency, reliability, statutory compliance, food safety and sustainable business performance across all operating units.

Key Responsibilities
Sugar Manufacturing

- Lead complete sugar factory operations with a robust focus on crushing efficiency, recovery, yield improvement and process optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, productivity and resource utilization.
- Monitor key operational parameters and implement initiatives to improve overall plant performance.

Co-generation Power Plant

- Oversee operations of the bagasse-based co-generation power plant.
- Optimize power generation and energy consumption to improve overall energy efficiency.
- Ensure reliable plant operation and compliance with applicable grid and regulatory requirements.

Distillery & Ethanol Operations

- Lead molasses-based and/or grain-based distillery and ethanol operations.
- Improve fermentation, distillation and ethanol yields while reducing operating costs.




- Drive productivity, energy efficiency, quality and process improvements across the distillery.

Food Safety & Quality Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable FSSAI regulations, FSMS, HACCP, GMP and GHP requirements.
- Lead customer audits and ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive and maintain food safety certifications such as ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 and HACCP.
- Promote a strong culture of quality, food safety and operational discipline across the organization.

Planning, Budgeting & Cost Management

- Develop and execute annual operational plans, production targets and operating budgets.
- Monitor costs and identify opportunities for productivity improvement and cost reduction.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across production, engineering, quality and safety functions.

Maintenance & Asset Reliability

- Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure high plant availability.
- Drive reliability improvement, asset optimization and effective maintenance planning.
- Minimize breakdowns, downtime and maintenance-related production losses.

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, including:




- Factory Act and applicable labour/safety regulations
- Boiler Act and related requirements
- Pollution Control Board (PCB) norms
- Excise and distillery-related regulations
- Environmental, safety and other applicable statutory requirements

Leadership & Team Development

- Build, mentor and lead high-performance teams across Production, Engineering, Quality, Safety and Operations.
- Establish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork and operational excellence.
- Develop succession plans and strengthen technical and managerial capabilities within the organization.

Desired Qualifications

- B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Sugar Technology.
- ANSI/AVSI qualification preferred.
- 20-25 years of relevant experience in sugar industry operations, with significant leadership exposure in co-generation and distillery/ethanol operations.
- Strong understanding of integrated sugar complex operations and process optimization.
- Sound knowledge of FSSAI, food safety management systems and customer audit requirements.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale manufacturing operations and cross-functional teams.
