Role Description The Apparel Designer role at Jakmans Clothing is a part-time, remote position focused on developing apparel concepts and designs that align with client brand identities and market trends. Day-to-day work includes researching fashion trends, creating Mood board, Making Catalouges using existing products and suggest product lines and collaborating with internal teams to translate concepts into production-ready designs. The Apparel Designer will review samples, work closely with the fabric team to get in-sights on current fabrics blends being demanded and develop a range suiting those blends and concepts. their web page and social media to create design suggestions for them. This role also involves working closely with sourcing and production teams to balance creativity with manufacturability and cost, while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and long-term wearability.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Fashion Design and Fashion, with the ability to create clear sketches and technical design documentation.
Knowledge of Textiles and Trims, including fabric properties, sustainable materials, and appropriate finishes for different garment types.
Experience with Fitting, including reviewing samples, assessing garment fit and comfort, and communicating adjustments to technical and production teams.
Proficiency in design tools and catalogue making (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, Indesign or similar), and familiarity with basic tech pack development.
Understanding of apparel production processes and timelines, ideally within a brand or manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently in a remote setting, and effective communication with cross-functional teams and clients.
Relevant education in Fashion Design, Textiles, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Interest in sustainable fashion and long-lasting garment construction is highly beneficial.
