Coating Technician (AR + Hard Coat) Also advertised as: AR Coating Technician, Vacuum Coating Operator, Thin-Film Technician, Hard Coat Operator Requirements - 2–5 years hands-on in an ophthalmic lens lab or precision optics coating setting - Cleanroom discipline and chemical safety (solvents, IPA, caustics, PPE) - Basic English — able to read and follow written work instructions - Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn our equipment Job tasks - Operate a vacuum box coater (Satisloh, Leybold, Shincron, Optorun or similar) — full run cycle from loading to unloading - Manage chamber pump-down, e-beam evaporation, ion source, and thickness monitoring - Load domes/jigs and handle lenses without contamination - Run the hard coat (dip) line: primer and lacquer baths, viscosity and bath life, withdrawal speed, pre-cure and post-cure ovens - Run pre-treatment: alkaline cleaning, ultrasonic, DI rinse, drying - Apply hydrophobic top coat - QC: spectrophotometer reflectance, adhesion (cross-hatch/boiling), abrasion, crazing, cosmetic inspection - Troubleshoot crazing, peeling, spotting, pinholes, colour shift - Chamber cleaning, pump and filter maintenance, preventive maintenance - Record batch and QC data in logs.
