The Heavy Truck Driver is responsible for the secure, timely, and efficient transportation of goods, raw materials, or finished products to designated locations. The driver must comply with all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations while maintaining the assigned vehicle in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive heavy commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Transport goods to assigned destinations on schedule.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Check engine oil, coolant, brake system, tires, lights, and fuel levels.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of materials without damage.
- Secure cargo according to safety standards.
- Maintain accurate trip sheets, logbooks, fuel records, and delivery documents.
- Report vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or maintenance issues immediately.
- Follow all road safety regulations and company transportation policies.
- Maintain cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
- Coordinate with the Transport Manager regarding delivery schedules and route planning.
- Ensure all required vehicle documents are valid and available.
- Assist during emergency situations and cooperate with maintenance staff when required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum qualification: 10th Pass (preferred).
- Valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) Driving License.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience driving heavy trucks.
- Good knowledge of traffic rules and highway routes.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand delivery documents.
