Metallurgy Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities of a Metallurgy Engineer:
1. Metal & Alloy Management
- Develop and maintain the correct alloy compositions for gold, silver, platinum, and other precious metals.
- Ensure accurate metal mixing as per product specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor precious metal consumption and minimize metal loss.

2. Quality Control & Testing
- Conduct metallurgical testing and analysis of raw materials and finished products.
- Perform purity testing, hardness testing, and other quality checks.
- Ensure compliance with industry and company quality standards.

3. Process Optimization
- Analyze and improve casting, melting, refining, and manufacturing processes.
- Identify production defects and implement corrective actions.
- Enhance productivity while reducing rejection and rework.

4. Defect Analysis
- Investigate defects such as porosity, cracks, discoloration, shrinkage, and brittleness in jewellery.
- Determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Coordinate with production teams to resolve quality issues.

Casting & Refining Supervision
- Monitor melting, alloying, casting, and refining operations.
- Ensure proper process parameters are maintained during production.
- Optimize casting yields and improve recovery rates.

6. Precious Metal Recovery & Loss Control
- Monitor metal recovery processes from polishing dust, sweeps, and scrap.
- Ensure maximum recovery of precious metals.
- Implement systems to reduce wastage and improve metal accountability.

7. Research & Development (R&D;)
- Develop new alloys and improve existing metal formulations.
- Research creative manufacturing techniques and materials.
- Support new product development initiatives.

8. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records related to metal usage, testing, recovery, and quality analysis.
- Prepare technical reports and process improvement reports.
- Ensure compliance with internal audit and regulatory requirements.
