About SAJAG: SAJAG was established in 2016 with the vision of bridging the information and opportunity gap faced by socially and economically marginalized students from the urban poor communities of Kalyan. We address these gaps by providing primary school students with the basic foundational skills of literacy and numeracy so they can access higher education. Our work revolves around learning centers where primary school students attend daily classes to learn basic reading and writing in Marathi, English, and Mathematics. Additionally, we provide access to a library where students can explore knowledge beyond the classroom curriculum. We also offer a school support program aimed at supporting schools in imparting new pedagogical practices. Our approach focuses on equipping students with communication skills, social-emotional skills, and life lessons to thrive in the competitive environment on the periphery of metropolitan Mumbai. We collaborate with municipal authorities, primary schools, teachers, parents, and communities to implement the Shala Sangati (school support) project.





Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting sessions in class on a regular basis with children from grades 1 to grade 3 as per the content plan, pedagogy and learning outcomes planned for the Shala Sangti Program.
- Preparation of the lesson plans, classroom activities as per planned by the Program coordinators.
- Application and use of the teaching pedagogy, strategies, techniques, learnt during the training sessions.
- Creating a positive classroom atmosphere by having colorful, interactive teaching aids, charts, class décor.
- Establishing classroom processes like, explicit classroom rules, revision time, reading time, etc in coordination with the School Coordinator and school teachers.
- Maintain documentation of the students work at the school level, e.g. attendance, worksheets, student portfolios.
