Position: Nursing Superintendent
Department: Nursing
Reporting To: Medical Superintendent / Unit Head
Location: Agra Unit (Ujala Cygnus Rainbow Hospital)
Hospital Capacity: 200-Bedded Super-Speciality Hospital
Experience: 10–18 years in Nursing, with significant experience in a supervisory/leadership role
Qualification: B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing preferred; GNM with relevant senior-level experience may also be considered
Registration: Valid Nursing Council Registration

1. Job Purpose

To provide strategic and operational leadership to the Nursing Department, ensuring high standards of patient care, nursing quality, patient safety, clinical compliance, manpower management, and smooth functioning of all nursing services across the hospital.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Nursing Operations & Patient Care
- Oversee day-to-day nursing operations across ICU, HDU, Emergency, OT, IPD, OPD, Dialysis and other critical/speciality areas.
- Ensure secure, efficient and compassionate nursing care to all patients.




- Ensure compliance with approved nursing protocols, SOPs and clinical guidelines.
- Monitor nursing care standards, medication administration, documentation and handover practices.
- Ensure adequate nursing coverage across all shifts and departments.
- Conduct regular rounds and identify gaps in nursing services.

B. Manpower Planning & Workforce Management
- Assess nursing manpower requirements based on bed strength, occupancy, acuity and departmental workload.
- Prepare and monitor duty rosters, shift allocation and leave planning.
- Ensure appropriate nurse-patient ratios and deployment of staff as per hospital requirements.
- Monitor attendance, absenteeism, overtime, double duties and manpower productivity.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, onboarding and retention of nursing staff.
- Identify high-potential nurses and support succession planning.
