- Production Planning: Industrial engineers develop production schedules and plans to meet customer demand while minimizing inventory costs and production lead times.
- Inventory Management: They help in managing raw materials and finished goods inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts,



which can lead to additional costs.
- Cost Reduction: Identifying cost-saving opportunities is a key responsibility. This includes reducing material waste, energy consumption, and labor costs through process improvements and automation.
- Time Study: Industrial engineers conduct time and motion studies to determine how long each task should take and use this data to establish production standards and performance benchmarks.
- Lean Manufacturing: Implementing lean principles and techniques, such as 5S, Kanban, and Value Stream Mapping, to eliminate waste and improve overall efficiency.
