About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Legal / Law Firm Accountant with hands-on experience supporting accounting and financial operations for law firms or legal services organizations. The ideal candidate should have robust knowledge of legal billing, matter accounting, client trust accounting, IOLTA, retainers, WIP, unbilled revenue, AP, AR, General Ledger and financial reporting.

Experience supporting US law firms or US legal services clients will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounting activities for law firms or legal services organizations.
- Maintain General Ledger and law firm accounting records.
- Prepare client invoices based on legal services, time and expenses.
- Review attorney and staff time entries for billing accuracy.
- Maintain matter-level accounting and billing records.
- Manage Accounts Receivable and outstanding client balances.




- Support Accounts Payable and vendor invoice processing.
- Maintain and reconcile Client Trust Accounts / IOLTA where applicable.
- Reconcile trust bank accounts and client matter balances.
- Track retainers, client advances and reimbursable expenses.
- Monitor WIP and unbilled revenue.
- Perform bank, credit card, trust and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare Journal Entries, Accruals and accounting adjustments.
- Investigate billing, trust and accounting discrepancies.
- Support Month-End, Quarter-End and Year-End Close.
- Prepare financial and matter-level reports.
- Coordinate with Attorneys, Partners, Billing, Legal Operations and Finance teams.
- Support collections and client payment processing.
- Support audit requirements and internal controls.
- Support process improvement initiatives related to legal billing and trust accounting.
