- A hands-on builder who leads a small pod - backend-only and frontend-only candidates are a hard filter, and Angular-only doesn't meet the bar.
- 6-8 years full-stack, with 2+ years leading 24 engineers or owning a non-trivial module end-to-end.
- Strong in Node.js and/or Python plus React on the front end, and SQL fluency is non-negotiable.
- They must deploy and operate what they build - Linux, PM2, Nginx, Docker, environment management, basic monitoring - and be able to walk through a production incident they owned start to finish; evasive answers disqualify.
- Real API integration depth against SaaS platforms or ERPs, including auth, pagination, retries and schema drift.
- Daily use of Claude Code, Copilot or Cursor, with a specific feature from last month where it accelerated them.
- Clear written communication in PR descriptions and customer-facing bug responses, and comfortable running a routine technical demo solo.
- LLM work - RAG, tool calling, a Claude skill or MCP server - is a solid plus.
- Think product-company or startup engineers who ship and operate, not service-company developers who hand off to a separate ops team.
