Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced General Manager – Stores to oversee the complete stores, inventory, material management and logistics operations across the company's construction projects.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in real estate/construction/civil projects, with the ability to manage stores operations across multiple sites, control inventory, ensure timely availability of construction materials, and establish efficient material management systems.

The candidate will be responsible for the overall management of construction material receipt, storage, issue, inventory control, reconciliation, documentation, site coordination, vendor coordination and material planning.

Key ResponsibilitiesStores & Inventory Management

- Oversee overall stores and inventory operations across all project sites.
- Establish and implement standardized store management systems and procedures.
- Monitor receipt, inspection, storage and issue of construction materials.
- Maintain accurate records of stock, consumption, transfers and returns.
- Ensure proper storage and preservation of materials to prevent damage, wastage and pilferage.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and reconciliation.
- Monitor minimum/maximum stock levels and identify slow-moving, excess and obsolete materials.

Construction Material Management

- Manage materials including cement, steel, RMC, aggregates, blocks, bricks, tiles, plumbing materials, electrical materials, finishing materials, hardware, tools and other construction consumables.
- Coordinate with project teams to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
- Ensure timely availability of materials as per project requirements.
- Monitor material consumption against approved quantities and project budgets.
- Identify abnormal consumption, wastage and material losses and take corrective action.

Multi-Site Coordination

- Oversee stores operations across multiple construction/project sites.
- Coordinate with Project Heads, Site Engineers, Purchase, Planning, Accounts and contractors.




- Monitor inter-site material transfers and ensure proper documentation.
- Conduct regular audits and visits to project stores.
- Standardize store practices and reporting across all sites.

Material Planning & Procurement Coordination

- Coordinate with the Purchase and Project teams for material planning and procurement.
- Review material indents and ensure requirements are properly planned.
- Support procurement teams by providing stock availability and consumption data.
- Ensure procurement schedules are aligned with project execution requirements.
- Avoid material shortages, excess procurement and unnecessary inventory holding.

Vendor & Contractor Coordination

- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, transporters and contractors regarding material deliveries.
- Monitor delivery schedules and ensure materials are received as per approved specifications and quantities.
- Resolve discrepancies related to quantity, quality, delivery and documentation.
- Evaluate vendor/service performance in coordination with the Purchase team.

Documentation & MIS

- Ensure proper documentation for:
- Material Receipts
- Material Issue Notes
- Material Transfer Notes
- Stock Registers
- Gate Entries
- Material Returns
- Physical Stock Verification
- Consumption Reports
- Prepare regular MIS reports on stock position, consumption, material movement and site requirements.
- Provide management with accurate and timely inventory reports.

Cost Control & Loss Prevention

- Monitor material wastage, pilferage and unnecessary consumption.
- Implement controls to minimize inventory losses.
- Ensure proper authorization for material issues and transfers.
- Monitor material reconciliation against project BOQs and approved requirements.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficient material utilization.

Team Management

- Lead and manage Store Managers, Store Officers, Storekeepers, Helpers and other stores personnel across project sites.
- Define roles, responsibilities and reporting structures.




- Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to company procedures.
- Train site store teams on inventory control, documentation and material handling practices.

Systems & Process Improvement

- Develop centralized systems for inventory monitoring and material tracking.
- Implement ERP/software-based inventory management wherever applicable.
- Improve processes for material forecasting, stock reconciliation and reporting.
- Establish SOPs and internal controls for stores and material management.

Requirements

- Graduate/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in stores/material management within construction, real estate or infrastructure.
- Strong experience handling construction/civil project stores.
- Experience managing stores across multiple project sites preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and their storage requirements.
- Strong understanding of inventory control, stock reconciliation and material planning.
- Experience managing large teams and site store operations.
- Positive knowledge of ERP/Inventory Management systems and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Purchase, Projects, Accounts, Planning and Site teams.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates currently working as General Manager – Stores, Head – Stores, Stores Head, Materials Manager, Senior Stores Manager, or Materials Management Head in reputed construction/real estate companies are preferred.

Candidates with extensive experience in large-scale/high-rise residential construction projects and multi-site stores management will be strongly preferred.

The candidate should be capable of taking complete ownership of stores and material management across all project sites, ensuring material availability, inventory accuracy, cost control and efficient site operations.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
