Farazon Manufacturing is a technology-driven contract manufacturing company specializing in sheet metal fabrication, precision machining, electronics manufacturing, assemblies and integrated manufacturing solutions for industrial customers.

We are looking for a technically strong Design Engineer with hands-on experience in sheet metal and machined component design.

Role Overview

To develop accurate, manufacturable and cost-effective designs for sheet metal and machined components, while working closely with manufacturing, quality and customers to ensure design-for-manufacturing, quality and timely delivery.

What You Will Do

- Product & Component Design – Design and develop sheet metal components, enclosures, brackets, frames, panels, welded structures, CNC machined components, and mechanical assemblies based on customer requirements.
- CAD & Engineering Software – Hands-on experience in Solid Edge / SolidWorks, with knowledge of AutoCAD, Sheet Metal CAD, CAM/CNC programming, and Radan or similar CAD/CAM software.
- Sheet Metal Design – Apply practical knowledge of bend allowance, bend deduction, K-factor, bend radius, laser cutting, CNC press brake, welding, fabrication, fasteners, and sheet metal assemblies.
- Machined Component Design – Design components suitable for CNC Milling, VMC, CNC Turning, considering machining tolerances, fits, threads, surface finish, tool access, material selection, and manufacturability.
- Engineering Drawings & GD&T; – Prepare and interpret 2D manufacturing drawings, 3D models, BOMs, dimensional tolerances, GD&T;, fits, clearances, surface finish, and critical-to-quality dimensions.
- Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA)

– Develop manufacturable, cost-effective, reliable, and easy-to-assemble designs, while optimizing material usage, machining time, fabrication time, and assembly cost.
- Customer Drawing & Requirement Review – Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements; identify discrepancies and develop designs that meet customer expectations and manufacturing capabilities.
- New Product Introduction (NPI) – Support prototype development, first article development, design validation, production trials, BOM preparation, drawing release, and initial production builds.
- Engineering Change & Revision Control – Manage drawing and model revisions, Engineering Change Notes (ECN), document control, obsolete drawings, and implementation of design changes based on customer and production requirements.
- Cross-Functional & Continuous Improvement – Coordinate with Design, Production, Quality, Procurement, and Customers to resolve technical issues and continuously improve product quality, manufacturability, cost, and production efficiency.

Essential Skills

- 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design / Manufacturing with strong exposure to Sheet Metal and Machined Component Design.
- Proficiency in Solid Edge or SolidWorks with good knowledge of Engineering Drawings, GD&T;, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- Practical knowledge of CNC Press Brake, Fiber Laser Cutting, VMC Machining, Welding, and Fabrication.

- Experience with Radan/RADAN CAM and Amada machines will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of ERP / PLM / PDM systems, Design Automation, and Design-to-Cost / Cost Optimization is preferred.
- Ability to interpret international customer drawings and specifications.
- Good problem-solving, communication, and shop-floor coordination skills.

Qualification: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is not only a CAD designer but a manufacturing-oriented design engineer who understands what happens to a component after the drawing leaves the engineering department.

You should be comfortable moving between CAD, engineering drawings and the shop floor, identifying why a component is difficult or expensive to manufacture and improving the design accordingly.

Key Performance Indicators

* Design accuracy
* First-time-right drawings
* Drawing release turnaround time
* Engineering change turnaround time
* Design-related production issues
* Prototype-to-production success
* Reduction in manufacturing cost
* Reduction in material wastage
