Job Description: Plant Head – Manufacturing

Position Title: Plant Head / Head of Manufacturing

Department: Operations

Reports To: Managing Director

Location: Bhiwadi Rajasthan
Budget- 20 to 25 LPA

Role Summary

The Plant Head is “ACCOUNTABLE” for leading the end-to-end operations of the manufacturing

plant with a strong focus on assembly operations. This includes production planning, assembly line

management, manpower allocation, quality assurance, process optimization, cost control, safety,

and ensuring timely delivery. The role ensures operational excellence, lean manufacturing practices,

and continuous improvement to meet organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Assembly Operations

 Oversee day-to-day plant operations including assembly lines, machining, fabrication, and support functions.

 Ensure achievement of production targets (output, productivity, efficiency).

 Establish and monitor assembly line standards (cycle time, takt time, WIP levels).

 Optimize layout, material flow, and line balancing.

2. Planning & Execution

 Develop production plans based on sales forecast, capacity, and inventory levels.

 Coordinate with supply chain, procurement, and logistics to ensure material availability.

 Monitor production schedules and ensure On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery.

3. Quality Management

 Ensure adherence to quality standards (ISO/TS/IATF depending on industry).

 Monitor in-process inspection, final inspection, and field complaints.

 Drive root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).





 Implement zero-defect initiatives across assembly processes.

4. Cost & Efficiency Management

 Control operational costs including labor, materials, utilities, and overheads.

 Reduce scrap, rework, and non-value-added activities.

 Drive lean manufacturing, kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement projects.

5. Maintenance & Reliability

 Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance of assembly equipment and utilities.

 Improve machine uptime, reliability, and reduce breakdowns.

 Ensure calibration and availability of assembly tools and jigs/fixtures.

6. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

 Ensure compliance with all statutory and workplace safety regulations.

 Promote a solid safety culture and conduct regular safety audits.

 Implement EHS standards—PPE usage, hazard control, incident reporting.

7. Manpower & Team Leadership

 Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team including supervisors, engineers, and

technicians.

 Ensure optimal manpower allocation and skill development.

 Drive high performance culture with focus on ownership and accountability.

8. Compliance & Documentation

 Ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and company policies.

 Oversee plant documentation, SOPs,



work instructions, and audit readiness.

 Liaise with government bodies for inspections and certifications as required.

9. Stakeholder Management

 Collaborate with R&D, quality, procurement, and commercial teams.

 Interact with suppliers, service providers, consultants, and auditors.

 Present KPIs and plant performance to senior management.

Key Skills & Competencies

 Strong knowledge of assembly operations (manual, semi-automatic, automated)

 Expertise in lean manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, Six Sigma

 Problem-solving & decision-making skills

 Leadership & people management

 Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/MS Dynamics, etc.)

 Strong communication and cross-functional coordination

Education & Experience

 Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Production Engineering (MBA

preferred)

 Experience: 15–25+ years in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a plant leadership role

 Experience in assembly-driven industries such as automotive, machinery, etc.
