- Operate conventional lathe machines for production and machining work.
- Perform turning, facing, drilling, boring, grooving, threading and parting operations.
- Set and secure components properly in the machine chuck.
- Select and use appropriate cutting tools for different machining operations.
- Read and understand basic engineering drawings and dimensions.
- Set machine speed, feed and cutting depth according to the job requirement.
- Measure finished components using vernier calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
- Check dimensions, tolerances and surface finish of machined components.
- Identify machining defects and make necessary corrections.
- Maintain machines, tools and work area properly.
- Follow production, quality and safety procedures.
Requirements
- ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Turner, Mechanical or related technical qualification preferred.
- 1–3 years of relevant lathe machine operating experience preferred.
- Practical experience with conventional lathe machines.
- Knowledge of turning, facing, drilling and threading.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments such as vernier caliper and micrometer.
- Good practical and mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and meet production requirements.
- Freshers with strong technical knowledge may also be considered.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in manufacturing or machine-shop environments.
- Knowledge of different cutting tools and machining materials.
- Basic knowledge of tolerances and surface finish.
- Experience with shafts, bushes, rods and other precision components.
- CNC lathe experience will be an added advantage.
