What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in React, .Net, SQL, and JavaScript to lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical software solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design robust applications, drive technical innovation, and ensure high-quality delivery that supports strategic business objectives and elevates client experiences. This role is part of CIBC India, our newly established office that supports our U.S. and Canadian businesses through global collaboration, technology expertise and operational excellence

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):

Delivery: Deliver projects with moderate oversight, owning outcomes, scope, and task delegation. Translate goals into clear technical tasks, make decisions within defined parameters, and ensure delivery aligns with departmental ojectives and timelines.

Technical Excellence: Design and ship secure, scalable solutions across the stack. Drive automation, comprehensive testing, CI/CD, and observability, while reducing technical debt and improving performance and reliability. Leverage GitHub CoPilot in Software Development best practices.

Industry and Domain Impact: Apply banking product and regulatory knowledge to shape solutions and initiatives. Leverage current industry trends to drive measurable process and product improvements, making data-driven trade-offs and recommendations.

Risk and Compliance: Participate in project-level risk assessments, define and execute mitigation plans, and embed security/privacy-by-design. Ensure adherence to policies and regulatory requirements, stay current on regulatory changes, and partner with Compliance and Audit for effective oversight.

Stakeholder and Team Management: Work across product, design, operations, and partner teams. Communicate status, risks, and decisions clearly; influence cross-functional outcomes; participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to raise team standards. Build strong relationships with team members, peers, and U.S. based partners

Experience: 5-7 years of experience

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

- Degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field or relevant certifications and/or completion of a relevant bootcamp
- 5-7 years of related experience OR Combination of education and experience, ideally within financial services or tech
- Microsoft/Azure certifications are an asset.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and understanding of cloud-native design, resiliency, and secure deployment patterns. Experience with: Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor / Application Insights, Entra ID / Azure AD

- Good knowledge of Front End development, especially React, in-depth experience with JavaScript and related frameworks
- Proficiency in .Net framework 8/10 for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable applications

- .Net Framework & .Net core : Experienced in developing, maintaining and deploying enterprise-grade web applications using Microsoft .Net technologies. Expertise in C#, ASP.NET Core, Web API & JSON, Entity Framework, with React for front end development. Adept at integrating backend logic with front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS, Javascript, Jquery, AJAX)
- Languages: C#, VB.Net, SQL, PL/SQL, JavaScript, TypeScript , Python, Java, NodeJS
- Frameworks: .NET Framework (2.0 4.7), ASP.NET (Web Forms, MVC, Web API), Entity Framework, LINQ
- Databases (SQL MI, SQL Server)
- ETL (SSIS, Databricks, Azure Data Factory), and CI/CD Tools (JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).




- Security: ASP.NET Core Identity / Entra ID / OAuth/OpenID/ allAccess integrations

- Strong expertise in SQL for database design, optimization, and complex query development
- Strong front-end/web fundamentals (JavaScript, jQuery, CSS) and experience delivering large-scale, browser-based applications.
- Knowledge of banking products, services, and industry regulations; deep understanding of current industry trends and developments; ability to lead initiatives that leverage industry knowledge to drive business improvements
- Knowledge of ETL processes and Python/Databricks is desired, not required
- Completes projects or initiatives with moderate oversight; makes decisions within defined parameters
- Ability to solve tactical problems and ensure project alignment with departmental goals
- Participate in risk assessments, develop risk mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with risk management policies
- Compliance adherence within their projects; ensure project outcomes adhere to regulatory requirements; stay informed about regulatory changes and their impact on operations; partner with Compliance and Audit teams
- Proven ability to develop prototypes/POCs and translate them into solutions.
- DevOps exposure (CI/CD and modern engineering practices) preferred.
- Client-focused, goal-oriented, and continuous learner with solid values alignment (trust, teamwork, accountability)
