Job Purpose
The Tendering / Costing / Estimation Manager will be responsible for managing the complete tendering, estimation and costing function for electrical infrastructure projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge of substations, transmission systems and power distribution, along with expertise in commercial estimation, market analysis, vendor coordination and tender documentation.
Key Responsibilities1. Tender Preparation & Management
- Manage end-to-end tender preparation activities from receipt of tender documents to submission.
- Study and analyse tender specifications, BOQ, drawings, scope of work and contractual conditions.
- Prepare technical and commercial tender documentation.
- Identify technical, commercial and contractual risks in tender documents.
- Ensure timely submission of tenders as per client requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments for technical inputs and approvals.
2. Estimation & Costing
- Prepare detailed project estimates and costing for electrical infrastructure projects.
- Analyse BOQ and prepare item-wise cost estimates.
- Conduct rate analysis for materials, labour, equipment and subcontracting activities.
- Prepare detailed cost sheets and price schedules.
- Evaluate project-specific requirements and their impact on overall project cost.
- Ensure accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
3. Substation & Transmission Expertise
- Handle estimation and tendering for Substation, Transmission and Power Distribution projects up to 400 kV.
- Strong understanding of electrical equipment and systems such as:
- Power Transformers
- CT/PT/CVT
- Circuit Breakers
- Isolators
- Protection & Control Panels
- HT/LT Panels
- Busbars
- Cables
- Earthing Systems
- Structures
- Transmission Lines
- SCADA / Protection Systems
- Auxiliary Systems
4. Market & Cost Analysis
- Track current market trends and fluctuations in material prices.
- Maintain knowledge of prevailing rates for electrical equipment, materials and services.
- Benchmark prices and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Analyse historical project costs and tender data.
- Develop and maintain cost databases for future tenders.
5. Vendor & Manufacturer Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to obtain technical and commercial quotations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers.
- Compare vendor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing and delivery schedules wherever required.
- Maintain a reliable vendor database for major electrical equipment and services.
6. Standards & Technical Compliance
- Ensure estimates and tender submissions comply with relevant IS, IEC and client-specific standards.
- Review technical specifications and identify deviations or exclusions.
- Ensure appropriate technical assumptions are incorporated into estimates.
7. Internal Coordination
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Projects, Finance and Management teams.
- Provide technical and commercial inputs during tender review meetings.
- Support management in bid/no-bid decisions.
- Assist the project team during post-award clarification and handover.

Preferred Experience
Candidates from EPC companies, electrical contracting companies, power transmission companies, substation contractors, utility projects or power infrastructure organisations will be preferred.
