Leather Weaving & Handcrafted Bag Production Specialist

Location: Kolkata

Salary: ₹35,000 – ₹60,000 per month ((Salary is negotiable and not a constraint for a genuinely skilled master craftsman with proven hands-on experience in handwoven leather bags, wooden moulds, sample development, and training of skilled craftsmen.)

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Leather Bag Weaving & Craftsmanship Expert with proven experience in creating premium handwoven leather bags using wooden moulds/forms.

This is not a desk-based or supervisory-only role. We are looking for a person who can personally demonstrate the complete weaving process, develop samples, train craftsmen, and help establish an efficient production system for handwoven leather bags.

The ideal candidate should be a master craftsman or practical production expert with deep knowledge of leather weaving techniques and handcrafted bag construction.

Key Responsibilities:

- Personally develop and manufacture handwoven leather bags using wooden moulds/forms.
- Demonstrate the complete process from leather preparation and cutting to weaving, shaping, construction, and finishing.
- Select and prepare suitable leather for different weaving styles and bag constructions.
- Develop new samples and support product development as per design requirements.
- Identify, organise, and manage skilled craftsmen and leather weavers.
- Train craftsmen on correct weaving methods, techniques, workmanship, and quality standards.
- Supervise the weaving and bag-making process to ensure consistency and quality.
- Help establish proper work methods and an effective production process for handwoven leather bags.
- Identify and resolve technical problems related to weaving, mould usage, leather handling, and bag construction.




- Coordinate with the Design, Sample, and Production teams for smooth development and production.

Who We Are Looking For:

✔ Hands-on expert in handwoven leather bag manufacturing

✔ Strong practical experience in working with wooden moulds/forms

✔ Excellent knowledge of leather selection, preparation, cutting, weaving, shaping, and bag construction

✔ Capable of personally demonstrating the complete weaving process

✔ Ability to identify, organise, train, and guide skilled craftsmen/weavers

✔ Experience in developing samples and establishing new handcrafted production methods

✔ Strong understanding of workmanship, finishing, and quality standards

✔ Ability to independently set up and manage the complete handwoven leather bag production process

Important – This Is a Hands-On Role

We are specifically looking for a master craftsman / technical expert, not merely a production supervisor.

The candidate must be capable of taking a concept or design and helping establish the complete manufacturing process:

Wooden Mould → Leather Preparation → Cutting → Hand Weaving → Shaping → Bag Construction → Finishing

The selected candidate should be able to personally demonstrate the work, train a team of craftsmen, and build a reliable production process for premium handwoven leather bags.

Experience:

- Proven practical experience in handwoven leather bag manufacturing is essential.
- Experience with wooden moulds, handcrafted leather weaving, and artisan-led production is highly preferred.
- Candidates with expertise in premium handcrafted leather bags, woven leather products, or specialised leather craftsmanship are encouraged to apply.
