MAYU is looking for a talented freelance
Handbags & Lifestyle Accessories Designer
to collaborate on the design and development of our upcoming collection, launching in
early September .Our new collection will explore the intersection of luxury craftsmanship and material innovation, featuring
fish leather
alongside other next-generation sustainable leather alternatives. We are looking for a designer who can create timeless, commercially viable products while embracing the unique characteristics of innovative materials.
What you will do:Design a capsule collection of handbags and lifestyle accessoriesDevelop mood boards, concept directions, colour palettes, and material combinationsCreate detailed design sketches and technical drawingsPrepare tech packs with construction details, dimensions, hardware specifications, and finishing notesCollaborate closely with our founder and manufacturing partners during product developmentRefine designs based on prototyping and material constraintsHelp build a cohesive collection aligned with MAYU's premium brand vision
We are looking for someone who has:Experience designing handbags, leather goods,
or lifestyle accessoriesA robust portfolio demonstrating contemporary, premium product designKnowledge of bag construction, materials, hardware, and manufacturing processesExperience preparing production-ready tech packsStrong understanding of luxury aesthetics, functionality, and user experienceExcellent communication skills and the ability to work independently within tight timelines
Bonus if you have experience with:Fish leather, bio-based materials, vegan leather, or other sustainable materialsLuxury fashion or accessories brandsWorking directly with artisans or manufacturersProduct development from concept to production
