1. Role Purpose
The Design Coordinator is the bridge between the in-house design team and the construction site. This
role ensures that design intent is accurately translated into construction, that design-related queries are
resolved swiftly, and that all design documentation is issued, tracked, and implemented on site without
delay.
2. Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate between design team and site execution team
• Manage the design submission and approval schedule — ensure design ahead of construction
• Track and resolve RFIs (Request for Information) from site within agreed timelines
• Maintain the design drawing register — latest revisions always current on site
• Facilitate design review meetings between PCU, design, and client teams
• Schedule meetings to review shop drawings, material submittals, and mock-ups against design
intent
• Coordinate with external consultants — structural, MEP, landscape — for timely deliverables
• Identify design-construction interface issues early and resolve before they hit the site
• Support the PCU Head in design-related schedule planning
3. Key Result Areas (KRAs)
• Drawing availability: Design ahead of construction by minimum 6 weeks at all times
• RFI resolution: 90% of RFIs resolved within 5 working days of raising
• Zero design-related construction stoppages due to missing or incorrect drawings
• Submittal review: All shop drawings and material submittals reviewed within 7 working days
