This post is one such mandate. The client is a profitable fintech company based in Indore, in retail investing and trading. Company name is shared after the screening call.

The role VP of Engineering, reporting directly to the CTO. The seat is being hired to take over the CTO's current operating load, with a stated path to the CTO role itself over time.

We want a tech owner more than a people manager - someone who holds the stack together, takes the engineering decisions, and is comfortable being the person paged when something breaks. The first thing we are hiring is depth.

What you'll do

- Own the tech stack and architecture calls - scalability, security, performance, cost. Review the team's design docs yourself, down to schema and caching decisions.
- Lead the re-architecture. The platform is at an inflection - what got it here will not carry the next 4x. That transition is the core of the job, including whether and how to move the backend to a newer stack.
- Lead backend, frontend, mobile, QA, automation and DevOps as one org, with a layer of engineering managers and an architect growing under you.
- Own Sev-0 and Sev-1 incidents end to end: response, root cause, and the fix that stops the repeat.
- Own the engineering metrics that matter - cycle time, deployment frequency, defect leakage, MTTR, uptime and build the practices that don't exist yet: code review discipline, CI/CD, release process, documentation.





Who should apply

- 8+ years in software engineering, most of them hands-on in the backend.
- You have personally run a product at real scale - 1 lakh+ daily user logins, or the broking equivalent of market-open concurrency and order throughput - with the on-call scars to prove it.
- Deep backend depth in a typed, scaled stack - Golang, Java, C# or similar. Ideal arc: C# earlier, a newer stack like Golang now. The arc matters less than the depth.
- Your resume has numbers - uptime, MTTR, latency, TPS, whatever metric you personally moved.
- You use AI tools in your own workflow. Tell us what and how.
- You speak Hindi comfortably - the team in Indore works in it day to day.
- Stable work history. Multiple short stints are not preferred.

Bonus Stock broking, fintech or another regulated industry - broking especially; strong domain experience can relax the years bar. Indore or MP roots - if you have been waiting for a reliable reason to move back, this is one. You trade or invest yourself - the people interviewing you do, and they will ask.
