Role Description The VMC Operator role is a full-time, on-site position based at the SREE VENKATESWARA COMPANY facility in Coimbatore. The VMC Operator is responsible for setting up and operating Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines, including loading programs, adjusting tool offsets, and preparing fixtures and workpieces.
Daily tasks include interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tools, monitoring machining operations, and inspecting components to ensure they meet dimensional and quality specifications. The role involves routine machine maintenance, identifying basic issues with equipment,
and coordinating with supervisors or engineers to improve machining processes and productivity. The VMC Operator is expected to follow safety guidelines, maintain a clean work area, and work collaboratively with the production team to meet delivery targets.
Qualifications
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and machining process sheets.
- Hands-on experience with VMC machine operation, including setup, tool selection, and basic CNC program handling.
- Knowledge of precision measurement tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection instruments.
- Understanding of machining parameters, cutting speeds, feeds, and various materials used in CNC machining.
- Familiarity with basic machine maintenance, troubleshooting of minor issues, and adherence to safety and quality procedures.
- Prior experience in a CNC/VMC machining or precision engineering environment, preferably in sectors such as automotive or aerospace.
- Ability to work in shifts if required, stand for extended periods, and handle moderate manual material handling safely.
- Diploma/ITI in Mechanical, Tool & Die, Production, or a related trade, or equivalent practical experience in machining.
- Positive teamwork, communication skills, and a proactive approach to meeting production targets and quality standards.
