Role Description The Tech Lead – Backend role at Skeps is a full-time, on-site position based in Gurgaon. This role involves leading the design and development of backend services and APIs, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability for POS financing products.

The Tech

Lead will guide a team of backend engineers, review code, set best practices, and collaborate with product managers, architects, and frontend teams to deliver secure and efficient solutions.

Responsibilities include planning technical roadmaps, overseeing deployments, troubleshooting production issues, and continuously improving system architecture. The role also involves mentoring team members, participating in technical hiring, and aligning backend development with business and compliance requirements.

Qualifications





- Strong backend engineering skills, including design and development of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with server-side programming languages (Node.js) and modern backend frameworks.
- Proficiency in relational and NoSQL databases, query optimization, and data modeling for high-volume transactional systems.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
- Experience with system architecture, performance tuning, scalability strategies, and high availability design.
- Familiarity with security best practices, authentication/authorization, encryption, and compliance in financial or fintech domains.
- Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, conduct code reviews, and define coding standards and development workflows.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
- 8–10 years of backend development experience, including several years in a technical leadership or lead engineer role.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in lending, payments, or POS financing platforms is a robust advantage.
