We are looking for an experienced and results-focused professional to join our team as a Team Leader / Assistant Manager UK Accounts & Tax. In this role, your primary responsibility will be leading the review and finalization of UK Statutory Accounts (FRS 102/105) and Corporate/Personal Tax filings (CT600, SA100), ensuring rigorous compliance with UK GAAP and HMRC regulations. In addition, you will oversee supporting compliance functions including periodic management accounts/MIS review, complex reconciliations, and quarterly VAT submissions, while driving workflow management and mentoring junior team members.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Review working papers, statutory accounts (FRS 102/102 1A/105), Corporation Tax (CT600), and Personal Tax (SA100) prepared by the team to ensure complete technical accuracy.
- Act as the final technical checkpoint for error-free and timely submissions to Companies House and HMRC within prescribed statutory deadlines.
- Guide the team through complex tax adjustments, capital allowances claims, and intricate reconciliations (Fixed Assets, Inter-company, PAYE/NIC, VAT, and Bank accounts).
- Review periodic Management Accounts and MIS reports (P&L;, Balance Sheet, variance analysis, and cash flows) to ensure accuracy before client dispatch.
- Oversee routine bookkeeping standards and review quarterly VAT returns (MTD compliance, various schemes) prior to HMRC submission.
- Maintain, monitor, and update compliance calendars, workflow trackers, and filing schedules across statutory accounts, CT600, and VAT deadlines.
- Lead day-to-day operations by planning, prioritizing, delegating, and balancing workloads across team members.




- Identify technical and compliance risks proactively, implementing immediate corrective and preventive measures.
- Mentor, train, and manage junior accountants to improve technical capability, review readiness, output quality, and turnaround times.
- Standardize accounting procedures, working paper documentation, and leverage software tools (TaxCalc, IRIS, CCH, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) for process optimization.
- Act as the main escalation point for resolving complex client queries, managing expectations, and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams, and management to align on operational objectives.
- Track pending deliverables proactively and follow up with team members and clients to ensure timely closure of missing records.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or ACCA preferred, or experienced semi-qualified professional (CA Inter / Finalist / ACCA Affiliate).
- 68 years of total experience in a CA firm, KPO, or accounting practice, with at least 45 years dedicated core focus on UK Year-End Accounts, Corporation Tax (CT600), and Self-Assessments (SA100).
- Proven track record of independently reviewing statutory year-end files, CT600 returns, and managing juniors.




- Strong, authoritative understanding of UK GAAP, FRS 102/105, HMRC tax legislation, Companies House filing frameworks, alongside working knowledge of UK VAT and MIS reporting.
- Strong expertise in managing day-to-day operations, statutory compliance calendars, workflow trackers, and filing deadlines within a CA firm environment.
- Hands-on proficiency in UK accounting and tax production software (TaxCalc, IRIS, CCH, Digita) as well as cloud platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Dext) and advanced MS Excel.
- Demonstrated capability to plan, prioritize, delegate, and monitor work across multiple statutory accounts and tax engagements simultaneously.
- Strong experience in maintaining organized working paper files, standardized audit documentation, and balance sheet reconciliation proofs.
- Excellent coordination, verbal, and written English communication skills for handling UK clients, and senior management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and operational decision-making abilities with high accountability and attention to detail.
- Capable of performing effectively under tight statutory filing deadlines while taking complete ownership of team deliverables.
