Job Overview:

The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design, and detailing of precast and prestressed concrete structures such as buildings, Underground Structures, retaining walls, and infrastructure elements. The role involves ensuring structural safety, serviceability, and code compliance with relevant national design standards — IS (India), ACI/PCI (USA), CSA (Canada), and BS/Eurocode (UK).

Key Responsibilities Design and Analysis

- Perform structural analysis and design of precast and prestressed concrete components (e.g., beams, slabs, columns, walls, stairs, panels).
- Design connections and lifting inserts ensuring constructability, transport, and erection stability.
- Conduct load calculations for dead, live, wind, seismic, and temperature effects.
- Carry out pre-stressing loss, deflection, and crack width checks.
- Coordinate design across multiple codes depending on the project region. Code Compliance
- Indian Codes: IS 456, IS 1343, IS 15916, IS 875, IS 1893, IS 13920, IS 2911
- American Codes: ACI 318, ACI 533, PCI Design Handbook, ASCE 7, ASTM Standards
- Canadian Codes: CSA A23.3, CSA A23.4, NBCC (National Building Code of Canada)
- UK / Eurocodes: BS 8110, BS EN 1992 (Eurocode 2), BS EN 1991 (Actions), BS EN 1998 (Seismic), BS 5950 (Steel connections where applicable) Detailing and Documentation
- Prepare GA drawings, shop drawings, reinforcement details, and connection drawings.
- Review fabrication and erection drawings for design consistency.
- Generate detailed design reports with clear calculation references and assumptions.
- Coordinate with drafting and BIM teams to ensure accurate 3D model representation. Coordination & Review
- Work closely with architects, project managers, and production teams to optimize precast solutions.
- Review contract documents, specifications, and client requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering,



and constructability studies.
- Provide engineering support during fabrication, lifting, transport, and erection stages. Quality & Safety
- Ensure designs meet safety factors and serviceability limits as per code.
- Maintain design documentation in accordance with QA/QC standards.
- Comply with local health, safety, and environmental guidelines.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and precast technology.
- Proficiency in design software: ETABS, SAP2000, ROBOT, Revit, AutoCAD, Excel-based design sheets.
- Valuable command of code interpretation across different geographies (IS/ACI/CSA/Eurocode).
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and value engineering mindset.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

- Education:

Bachelor’s degree in civil / Structural Engineering (mandatory)

Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (preferred)

- Experience:

7–9 years of relevant experience as Structural Design Engineer.

Exposure to international projects (American / Canadian / UK codes) preferred
