Senior Kubernetes AWS Cloud Engineer (SRE / Platform Engineering)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Kubernetes AWS Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and manage enterprise-scale cloud-native platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Kubernetes, AWS Cloud, and Terraform, with experience managing production environments, automating infrastructure, and ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and manage production-grade Kubernetes (EKS) environments.

Build and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS.

Develop and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform.

Automate deployments and operational workflows through CI/CD pipelines.

Implement and manage observability solutions including monitoring, logging, and tracing.

Troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters, networking, storage, and application performance issues.

Implement security controls, governance standards, and compliance best practices.

Perform cluster upgrades, patching, backup, and disaster recovery activities.

Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, Security, and Development teams to deliver cloud-native solutions.

Mentor junior engineers and drive platform engineering best practices.

Must-Have Skills

Kubernetes

Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments.

Expertise in Amazon EKS cluster deployment and lifecycle management.

Deep understanding of

o Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets o Ingress Controllers and Load Balancers o Persistent Volumes (PV/PVC)

o Multi-AZ and High Availability architectures

Experience with





o Helm o Kustomize o GitOps tools (ArgoCD/Flux)

Strong knowledge of Kubernetes networking:

o CNI o CoreDNS o Service discovery

Kubernetes security

o RBAC o Network Policies o Pod Security Standards o Secrets Management

AWS Cloud

Strong expertise in

o EKS o EC2

o VPC o IAM o RDS o S3

o CloudWatch o Route53

o ALB/NLB

Experience with AWS security and cloud operations best practices.

Terraform

Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Terraform modules.

Experience managing Terraform state files, workspaces, and version control.

Strong Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) expertise.

DevOps Observability

CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation.

Monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

Production troubleshooting and performance optimization.

Certifications

CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) Mandatory

Nice-to-Have Skills

Istio or other Service Mesh technologies.

Terragrunt.

Security scanning tools such as Prisma Cloud or similar.

Container runtimes such as containerd.

Multi-cloud Kubernetes experience (GKE, AKS).

FinOps / Cloud Cost Optimization experience.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS DevOps Engineer certification.

Preferred Candidate Profile

5+ years of overall experience in Cloud/DevOps/SRE environments.

Robust hands-on Kubernetes administration experience in production.

Experience supporting mission-critical, highly available applications.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
