About Viamagus
Viamagus Technologies is a product engineering company headquartered in Bangalore, India, with offices in the United States and Switzerland. Its practice spans UX, engineering, and applied AI, with over a decade of experience across CMS technologies, WordPress, web and mobile development, and enterprise backends. Viamagus has delivered for Fortune 500 enterprises — including Nestlé and The Coca-Cola Company — as well as public-sector programmes and growth-stage SaaS products across Europe, the US, and India.
The Role
We are hiring a Consulting Solution Architect to own the technical backbone of Viamagus's solution architecture practice. WordPress and CMS-led web platforms are the definite focus of this role and of most of our current pipeline — but the scope is not limited to CMS work. Tenders and client engagements regularly call for custom product engineering as well: progressive web apps, native or cross-platform mobile applications, and integration-heavy platforms connecting to third-party systems.
This is a dual-mandate role: you will architect these solutions hands-on, and you will lead the end-to-end technical solution design for competitive tenders and RFPs across India, US, and EU markets — translating dense procurement requirements into a clear, compliant, and winning technical narrative, whatever the underlying technology stack turns out to be.
Key Responsibilities
Tender & RFP Architecture (core mandate)
- Own the technical solution architecture for RFP and tender responses end-to-end — from initial requirements analysis and go/no-go assessment through to the final submitted technical proposal.
- Translate RFP scope-of-work, evaluation criteria, and compliance requirements (accessibility, security, data residency, branding, hosting standards) into a coherent, requirement-traceable technical solution.
- Produce RFP-ready technical documentation: solution proposals, architecture diagrams, phased implementation plans, requirements traceability matrices, and responses to technical evaluation questions.
- Participate in pre-bid conferences and the official written Q&A; process, drafting clarification questions and technical responses within each procurement's own rules of engagement.
- Partner with the bid and commercial team to ensure the proposed architecture is deliverable within the proposed timeline, team composition, and price.
- Represent Viamagus's technical capability directly to client evaluation committees, including oral presentations where shortlisted.
- Bring demonstrated experience on medium-to-large tenders — public sector, higher education, financial services,
or enterprise — in at least two of: India, US, EU.
WordPress, CMS & Platform Architecture (primary focus)
- Architect WordPress-based solutions using the native Gutenberg block editor, dedicated site-plugin patterns, and — where appropriate — headless/decoupled architectures.
- Design WordPress Multisite Networks, including governance, template management, and long-term scalability and maintainability.
- Define content migration strategies from legacy CMS platforms into WordPress, including automated-versus-manual migration approach, risk mitigation, and validation methodology.
- Establish plugin governance policy: licensing, maintenance status, security patching cadence, and dependency limits.
- Architect search and retrieval using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch-based faceted and AI-assisted search where required by the solution.
Custom Product & Platform Engineering (beyond CMS)
- Architect progressive web apps (PWAs) and native or cross-platform mobile applications (iOS/Android) when a tender or engagement calls for a broader digital product rather than a CMS-led website.
- Design integration architecture connecting the core platform to third-party systems — payment gateways, CRM, ERP, identity providers, and other external APIs.
- Architect backend/API layers and microservices to support custom product builds, alongside CMS-based platforms.
- Apply the same architecture rigor — security, scalability, cloud hosting, CI/CD — to custom product engineering engagements as to WordPress/CMS engagements.
Cloud, DevOps & Security
- Own cloud architecture decisions (AWS primary; Azure where required), including compute, managed database, CDN/WAF, backup and disaster-recovery design, and region-specific data residency requirements (e.g. EU/EEA).
- Define CI/CD pipelines and workplace strategy (dev/stage/prod) with defined release and rollback procedures.
- Set security baselines: role-based access control, MFA enforcement, audit logging, and OWASP-aligned application security.
- Ensure proposed and delivered solutions meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility requirements and applicable regional accessibility law.
Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support delivery teams post-award with architectural governance through implementation.
- Collaborate with legal, commercial, and delivery stakeholders — including external partners on joint bids — to ensure technical commitments are accurate and deliverable.
- Mentor engineering teams on WordPress and platform architecture best practice.
Mandatory Requirements
- 10+ years architecting and delivering large-scale web platforms, CMS, e-commerce, mobile apps, or SaaS systems — with deep, hands-on WordPress/CMS expertise as the core specialism.
- Demonstrated, mandatory experience architecting technical responses to RFPs/tenders — owning the technical solution end-to-end, not just contributing to one — on medium-to-large tenders in India, the US, and/or the EU.
- Deep, hands-on WordPress expertise: Gutenberg block architecture, custom plugin development, Multisite Networks, and theme/plugin governance.
- Experience architecting at least one custom product engineering engagement beyond CMS/website work — e.g. a progressive web app, a native or cross-platform mobile app, or an integration-heavy platform connecting multiple third-party systems.
- Strong AWS cloud architecture experience (compute, managed database, CDN/WAF, backup/DR); Azure experience is a plus.
- Experience producing RFP-grade technical documentation, including solution proposals, architecture diagrams, and requirements traceability matrices.
- Experience defining and executing content migration strategy from legacy platforms into WordPress.
- Working familiarity with WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to defend a technical solution to a non-technical evaluation committee.
- Comfortable working across time zones to support India, US, and EU-based clients and procurement processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience responding to public-sector/government, higher-education, or regulated-industry (financial services) tenders specifically.
- Experience with mobile app frameworks (React Native, Flutter, or native iOS/Android).
- Experience architecting API-first or microservices-based backends independent of a CMS.
- Experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, distributed data pipelines, and AI-assisted retrieval.
- Experience with GDPR-aligned data residency architecture and security frameworks such as OWASP.
- CI/CD tooling experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), containerisation (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code.
- Prior experience in a CTO, Principal Architect, or Practice Lead capacity.
- Experience with generative or agentic AI solutions in production environments.
