Role Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Software Fullstack Java Engineer with a strong background in both backend architecture and full-stack development to lead the maintenance, refactoring, and gradual modernization of our enterprise Java legacy platform. You will diagnose deep-seated technical debt, optimize performance, and guide junior team members in transitioning legacy monoliths to contemporary, cloud-native microservices using modern Java (Java 17/21).

Key Responsibilities

· Legacy Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Deep-dive into complex, legacy Java codebases (JSF or legacy Spring) to maintain and stabilize the platform, diagnose production issues, and implement reliable fixes.

· Modernization & Refactoring: Support the gradual modernization of legacy modules by developing Spring Boot services, REST APIs, Microservices and migration components while documenting technical debt and modernization priorities.

· Full Stack Delivery:



Build and maintain end-to-end features, bridging backend Java services with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., Angular, React), and contribute to frontend work where required.

· Enterprise Integration & Search: Support application integration and search-related functionality using Apache SOLR, third party integrations like ERP, Payment Gateway as required, collaborating with relevant internal or specialist resources where necessary.

· Rules & Reporting Engine Implementation: Support business rules, reporting using tool like BIRT, Drools and related application functionality within Java-based systems as required.

· Code Quality & Governance: Establish coding standards, conduct rigorous code reviews, and implement automated testing (JUnit, Mockito, Selenium) to increase test coverage on legacy components.

· Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, pair programming, and mentorship to junior engineers and interns.

· API Design: Develop, design, and integrate RESTful APIs to connect front-end and back-end systems.

· Database Query Optimization: Fine-tuning database queries involves optimizing SQL statements, indexing, normalization, and resource management to improve performance, reduce execution time, and ensure efficient data retrieval.

· Deployment & Quality: Test, debug, and deploy applications to ensure reliability and security.

· Collaboration: Partner with UI/UX designers and business stakeholders to meet project requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Experience:



3-5 years of professional software development experience with a heavy focus on Java ecosystems.

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

· Backend Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Java (Java 8 through Java 17/21), Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, and legacy frameworks (Struts, EJB,or JSF). · Frontend Expertise: Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks like Angular or React, with the ability to contribute to frontend work where required.

· Databases & Tooling: Strong SQL skills (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL), experience with Maven/Gradle, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and application servers (Tomcat, WebSphere, JBoss/WildFly).

· Modernization & AI Innovation: Experience supporting the refactoring and gradual modernization of monolithic legacy codebases into scalable architectures is preferred.

Preferred Skills

· Experience with MuleSoft integration, Apache Solr, Drools business rule engine, and Java-based reporting frameworks.

· Experience with advanced AI tooling, AI coding assistants, automated code-refactoring scripts, or LLM-based developer tools.

· Exposure to technical architecture leadership and the ability to contribute to architecture and modernization decisions.
