Kaakor is India's first paper engineering company.
nWe use engineered paper, cardboard and other sustainable materials to create furniture, installations, retail displays, exhibition structures, brand experiences, custom products and large-scale objects.
n
n
- We are building a new category around Paper Engineering — and we're looking for a designer who wants to help us build things that haven't been built before.
n
The Role nWe are looking for a Senior Product Designer with strong experience in cardboard, paper, sustainable materials, furniture, exhibition design, installations or structural product design.
nThis is a hands-on role.
nYou will receive a client requirement such as:
"We need a 10-foot branded installation for an event next week."nAnd your job will be to quickly turn that idea into:
n Concept → 3D Model → Engineering → Prototype → Production-ready Design
nSpeed is extremely important.
nWe need someone who can take an idea from a conversation to a visual 3D concept within a very short time , while keeping manufacturing, material usage, strength, assembly and cost in mind.
n What You'll Be DoingProduct & Installation Design nDesign and develop:
n
n
- Custom furniture
n
- Brand installations
n
- Exhibition structures
n
- Retail displays
n
- POP displays
n
- Event installations
n
- Product-launch installations
n
- Life-size objects
n
- Sculptures and structures
n
- Custom packaging/product concepts
n
- Sustainable alternatives to conventional products
n
- Completely new products based on client requirements
n
3D Design & Visualization nYou will be expected to:
n

n
- Create presentation-ready renders/visuals.
n
- Develop multiple design options when required.
n
- Create production-ready drawings/files.
n
- Prepare files suitable for CNC cutting and manufacturing.
n
- Understand dimensions, tolerances, joints, folds and assembly.
n
- Create designs that can actually be manufactured — not just look good in a render.
n
n Paper Engineering nA robust understanding of cardboard and paper-based structures is highly preferred.
nYou should understand concepts such as:
n
n
- Material thickness
n
- Layering
n
- Structural strength
n
- Folding
n
- Scoring
n
- Slotting
n
- Interlocking
n
- Load distribution
n
- Flat-pack design
n
- Tool-free assembly
n
- Material optimization
n
- CNC cutting
n
- Manufacturing tolerances
n
nExperience with other sustainable materials such as kraft board, honeycomb board, recycled materials, plywood, bamboo or bio-based materials will also be valuable.
n Client Requirement → Design nYou will work directly with the founder and sales team to understand client requirements.
nFor example:
n Client:
n"We need something unique for our exhibition."
nYou should be able to quickly think:
n Concept → Dimensions → Material → Structure → 3D Model → Manufacturing Method
nYou will also participate in client presentations when required and explain why a particular design works.
