Purpose of the Role To establish and oversee a robust internal audit and risk management framework by coordinating with external internal auditors, process owners, and senior management, ensuring effective internal controls, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and timely closure of audit observations across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Internal Audit Governance
Develop annual risk-based internal audit plans covering all business functions along with External Internal Auditors. Present audit plans, key findings, and status updates to senior management and Audit Committee.
Ensure alignment of audit coverage with organizational risks and strategic priorities.
Maintain an enterprise-wide internal control framework.
1. Coordination with External Internal Auditors
Act as the single point of contact for external/internal audit firms. Facilitate audit planning, scope finalization, timelines, and resource allocation.
Ensure auditors receive required data, documents, and access to personnel.
Review audit observations and validate factual accuracy before finalization.
Monitor quality and effectiveness of audit assignments conducted by external auditors.
1. Coordination with Process Heads
Liaise with heads of:
Manufacturing
Procurement & Sourcing
Supply Chain & Logistics
Depot Incharges
Finance & Accounts
Human Resources
Information Technology
Legal & Compliance
Ensure timely submission of information and audit evidence.
Facilitate discussion and resolution of audit findings.
Drive accountability for corrective action implementation.
1. Audit Observation Management
Maintain a centralized audit issue tracker. Classify observations based on risk severity.
Track management action plans and closure timelines.
Conduct follow-up reviews to verify implementation effectiveness.
Escalate overdue critical observations to senior management and seek help in closing this suitably.
1. Risk Management
Assist management in identifying operational, financial, compliance, and strategic risks. Maintain risk registers and monitor mitigation plans.
Support periodic risk assessment exercises.
1. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Evaluate adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls. Recommend process improvements to strengthen governance and efficiency.
Identify opportunities for automation and control enhancement.
Support implementation of best practices across business functions.
1. Audit Committee Support
Prepare Audit Committee presentations and reports.
CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) will be an Additional preference
Experience
6-8 years of experience in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Controls, or Assurance functions.
Experience in manufacturing preferably in FMCG, footwear, apparel, or consumer products sectors preferred.
Experience managing Big 4 or external audit firms and dealing with Audit Committees.
Solid exposure to SAP environment.
