As a Senior QA Engineer within the TCOS (Train Control Office Suite) team in the Signaling & Systems P&L; under the Digital Intelligence group, you will play an important role in validating that our software products meet high standards of quality, reliability, and safety.
You will be responsible for understanding requirements, designing and executing detailed test cases, validating key customer features, supporting regression testing, and contributing to integration, functional, and automation test coverage.
Your role will require applying QA methodologies, quality engineering practices, automation tools, and CI/CD-based testing practices. We are looking for a quality-driven engineer who can translate requirements and system behaviours into clear, repeatable, and maintainable test solutions.
In this position, you will work closely with developers, QA leads, architects, and product managers to identify risks, clarify requirements, validate fixes, and ensure quality is considered throughout the SDLC.
As a senior engineer, you will contribute to test maturity by improving test coverage, supporting automation, sharing QA best practices with peers, and helping the team deliver reliable and maintainable software solutions.
What do we want to know about you
1) Quality Strategy & Test Planning
- Understand feature scope and identify quality risks, dependencies, and test coverage needs early.
- Contribute to test strategy, scope, and risk-based coverage across functional, integration, and end-to-end workflows.
- Create and maintain test plans, entry/exit criteria, and traceability from requirements to tests and defects.
- Provide realistic test effort inputs and highlight schedule or quality risks in a timely manner.
2) Test Design & Documentation
- Author clear, maintainable test cases for functional, regression, exploratory, edge case, and boundary-condition scenarios.
- Define and maintain test data, environmental prerequisites,
and test evidence required for effective validation.
- Apply structured test design techniques such as equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision tables, and BDD/Gherkin where applicable.
3) Test Automation & Framework Contribution
- Develop and maintain automated tests for UI, API, and integration layers using the team s automation framework.
- Implement reliable smoke, regression, and acceptance tests with maintainable locators, reusable utilities, and appropriate data strategies.
- Support CI/CD execution by analyzing automation failures, improving stability, and reducing flaky tests.
- Participate in reviews of test code and test design; follow automation standards and contribute improvements to the framework.
4) Test Execution & Quality Gates
- Execute functional, integration, regression, and release validation testing across assigned features and workflows.
- Support quality gates by providing accurate test status, defect trends, test evidence, and risk callouts before approvals.
- Maintain and execute smoke/sanity suites to support rapid validation and release confidence.
5) Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis
- Log and triage defects with precise reproduction steps, logs, screenshots, test data, and impact details for quick isolation.
- Work with developers, QA leads, and product owners to support severity/priority assessment and timely defect resolution.
- Participate in RCA discussions and help identify preventive actions such as test gaps, requirement clarifications, or additional monitoring needs.
6)
Shift-Left Quality & CI/CD
- Support early quality activities by reviewing acceptance criteria, asking clarifying questions, and contributing to detailed impact analysis.
- Support test environment readiness, test data setup, and CI/CD-based automated validation where applicable.
7) Requirements & Risk Management
- Clarify functional and non-functional requirements; identify ambiguity, missing scenarios, and contradictions early.
- Test for Non-Functional Quality requirements - Performance, Reliability, Security.
- Maintain requirements-test-defect traceability and support risk-based prioritization of testing activities.
- Validate operational scenarios aligned with TCOS domain use cases.
8) Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Provide explicit quality updates including test progress, pass/fail status, defect trends, blockers, and release risks.
- Communicate release readiness inputs and escalate blockers with evidence-based rationale.
- Promote transparency in test approach, assumptions, tool usage, and trade-offs.
9) Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, coverage, automation stability, and defect prevention.
- Help reduce flaky tests, improve suite execution value, and use exploratory testing charters where applicable.
- Maintain living documentation such as test cases, test strategy inputs, automation notes, runbooks, and knowledge-base articles.
