About the Role
We're looking for an engineer who lives at the intersection of AI/ML and complex frontend engineering. You'll design and build rich, interactive interfaces — think canvas-based polygon and shape editing, image/geometry annotation, real time visualization — and wire them directly into AI/ML backends and inference pipelines. This is a hands-on role for someone who's equally comfortable reasoning about model outputs and crafting a smooth, performant drawing canvas.
You won't just consume an API; you'll help shape how AI capabilities surface in the product and how users interact with them.
Responsibilities
- Design and build complex, interactive UIs — polygon/shape drawing and editing, multi-layer canvases, draggable vertices, zoom/pan, hit-testing, and real-time overlays.
- Integrate front-end experiences with AI/ML backends: inference endpoints, model serving, streaming responses, and data pipelines.
- Translate model outputs (detections, segmentations, embeddings, predictions) into intuitive, responsive visual interfaces.
- Own features end-to-end — from UX prototyping through API/data-contract design with backend teams to production deployment.
- Optimize rendering performance for large datasets and high-frequency interactions (Canvas/SVG/WebGL).
- Collaborate with ML engineers and product on what's feasible, what's fast, and what feels good to use.
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code and contribute to architecture decisions.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of qualified software engineering experience, with strong depth in modern frontend (React/TypeScript or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience building complex interactive graphics UIs — e.g., Canvas, SVG, WebGL, or libraries such as Konva, Fabric.js, PixiJS, deck.gl, or D3 — including polygon/geometry editing or similar.
- Solid grasp of AI/ML concepts and hands-on experience integrating with ML models or inference APIs (LLMs, computer vision, or similar).
- Comfort working across the stack: consuming and helping design backend/REST/gRPC/WebSocket APIs and reasoning about data contracts.
- Backend proficiency in Python with FastAPI— building and maintaining typed, well-documented async REST APIs, request/response validation with Pydantic, dependency injection, and serving ML/inference endpoints at scale.
- Strong eye for UX, performance, and detail in interactive applications.
- Excellent written communication and the ability to work autonomously in a remote, distributed team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with computer vision tooling, data annotation/labeling platforms, GIS/mapping, or CAD style interfaces.
- Experience building or integrating MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers to connect AI models/agents with external tools and data sources.
- Familiarity with the Figma MCP server and design-to-code workflows — programmatically pulling design tokens, components, and layout data from Figma to drive AI-assisted UI generation and keep code in sync with design.
- Experience with real-time/streaming UIs and state management for collaborative editing.
- Exposure to model fine-tuning, prompt engineering, or building agentic/LLM-powered features.
- Familiarity with cloud infra (AWS/GCP/Azure) and CI/CD.
