Consultant - QA (Manual & Automation)

Overview

We are looking for a Consultant with around 3-4 years of hands-on experience in QA, equally strong in manual testing and automation. The person should be able to pick up a complex product quickly -

understand the application and how different services work together - with limited hand-holding.

Day to day, this role involves functional testing of web applications, mobile apps (Android and iOS), and

APIs. You will review requirements, design test cases (including edge cases), execute them, and build or maintain automation for the same flows. Both manual and automation work are part of this role - not one as primary and the other as optional. We expect solid triage skills - not just logging a defect, but helping the team understand where the problem is likely coming from (UI, API, backend service, data, etc.).

We work on a large-scale consumer application with web, Android, iOS, and multiple backend services. We follow Agile, and requirements can change often, so testing has to be practical and smart - focus on risk,

impact, and what matters for the release. The consultant may be assigned to manual or automation tasks depending on project need, so both skill sets should be at a similar level.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out end-to-end functional testing for web, mobile (Android/iOS), and API flows
- Go through requirements and design explicit test cases covering happy path, edge cases, and negative scenarios
- Write test cases in BDD style (Given / When / Then)
- Prioritise test scenarios based on risk and release impact (smoke / sanity / regression judgment)
- Execute manual test cases, track results, and support regression for releases
- Build, update, and maintain automation for web, mobile, and API flows




- Triage defects properly - reproduce issues, check logs/API responses where needed, and share useful inputs with developers on possible root cause
- Validate data using SQL across multiple databases and backend services
- Understand how services communicate with each other
- Own assigned modules end to end with limited supervision, and keep status updates clear with QA, developers, and product

- Hands-on experience in testing of web, mobile (Android & iOS), and APIs
- Good analytical ability - can read requirements and turn them into solid, detailed test cases
- Ability to understand the application and service flow with minimal guidance
- Hands-on defect triage and debugging mindset (not limited to raising bugs)
- Working knowledge of SQL for data checks and backend validation

- Familiarity with BDD-style test case writing
- Hands-on with Postman (or similar) for API testing
- Comfortable using browser DevTools and reading basic mobile/device logs (e.g. Logcat)

- Comfortable working in Agile teams with changing priorities
- Clear written and verbal communication with QA, developers, and product

- Web automation: Selenium with Java
- Mobile automation: Maestro / Appium
- API automation: Rest Assured
- Framework exposure: TestNG, BDD-driven tests
- JavaScript for Maestro scripts and mobile automation flows
- Ability to automate stable flows and maintain existing scripts
- Comfortable working with the same BDD-style cases used for manual testing

Good to Have

- Exposure to Jira or similar test management tools
- Basic understanding of CI/CD
- Comfortable reading basic API docs / Swagger
- Basic understanding of Android / iOS release cycles
