Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Head with 1218 years of experience in machining processes, strategic sourcing, vendor development, imports, costing and localisation. The candidate will be responsible for developing a robust supplier base, achieving cost competitiveness, ensuring material availability and driving localisation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the Purchase and Strategic Sourcing function for machining and engineering components.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for machined components, raw materials, bought-out parts and tooling.
- Identify, evaluate and develop recent vendors based on quality, cost, delivery and technical capability.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining, turning, milling, grinding, VMC/HMC and related manufacturing processes.
- Conduct should-cost analysis, cost estimation, price benchmarking and commercial negotiations.
- Handle import costing, including freight, customs duties, taxes, logistics and landed-cost analysis.
- Drive localisation of imported components through identification and development of capable local suppliers.
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives including VA/VE, alternate sourcing, process optimisation and supplier development.
- Negotiate commercial terms, payment conditions, lead times and long-term supply agreements.
- Monitor supplier performance on Cost, Quality and Delivery (CQD).
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, PPC, Finance and NPD teams for sourcing and development projects.
- Support new product development through supplier identification, RFQ, techno-commercial evaluation and APQP-related sourcing activities.
- Develop alternate and dual sources for critical components to minimise supply-chain risks.
- Monitor commodity and raw-material price movements and incorporate them into sourcing strategies.
- Lead supplier audits,



capability assessments and corrective-action follow-up in coordination with Quality.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers.

Candidate Profile
- 12 to 18 years of experience in Purchase, Procurement and Strategic Sourcing.
- Strong experience in machining and precision-engineered components is mandatory.
- Candidates from Automotive, Auto Components, Engineering, Industrial Equipment or Precision Manufacturing industries preferred.
- Strong technical understanding of machining processes and manufacturing cost structures.
- Proven experience in vendor development, localisation and import substitution.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and supplier-management skills.
- Engineering degree/diploma, preferably Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering.
