: Production Chemist – Paints & Coatings

- Job Purpose
- Support and execute hands-on manufacturing of paints and coatings, including batch preparation, mixing, dispersion, let-down, and finishing. The role is responsible for accurate batch documentation, material tracking, and coordination with Warehouse and Quality Control teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Paint Manufacturing & Batch Preparation
- Prepare paint and coating batches according to approved formulation sheets.
- Perform mixing, blending, dispersion, let-down, and finishing activities.
- Operate production equipment such as high-speed dispersers, bead mills, and mixers.
- Handle raw materials including pigments, resins, solvents, and additives.
- Monitor in-process parameters such as viscosity, consistency, and batch quality.
- Material Handling & Coordination
- Coordinate with the warehouse for timely issuance and consumption of raw materials.
- Verify material identification and maintain batch-wise traceability.
- Support inventory tracking and help minimize material wastage.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of production materials.
- Documentation & ERP/Excel Entries
- Maintain batch manufacturing records, production logs, and material consumption entries.
- Use ERP/SAP systems for material,



batch, and production tracking.
- Prepare and update Excel-based tracking sheets using basic formulas.
- Maintain accuracy in product codes, batch codes, and related documentation.
- Quality & Process Support
- Conduct basic in-process checks, including viscosity and density testing.
- Follow approved formulations, standard operating procedures, and production guidelines.
- Coordinate with QC and R&D; teams to address batch deviations or process-related issues.
- Support continuous improvement in production efficiency and product consistency.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow chemical safety procedures and use required PPE.
- Ensure safe handling of solvents and hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant production setting.
- Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma, B.Sc., or B.Tech in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- 2–6 years of experience in paint/coatings manufacturing is mandatory.
- Hands-on experience in batch preparation, mixing, dispersion, and paint production processes.
- Working knowledge of pigments, resins (alkyd, acrylic, epoxy), solvents, and additives.
- Basic familiarity with ERP/SAP systems and MS Excel.
- Sound understanding of paint manufacturing workflows, safety practices, and batch documentation.
