About The Role
As the Manager of Payroll Operations at Straive, you will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll processes across multiple entities within India. This strategic leadership role requires a comprehensive understanding of Indian payroll legislation, statutory compliance, and operational excellence. You will collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors to ensure payroll is executed accurately, timely, and in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Your leadership will be instrumental in standardizing payroll processes, optimizing systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, you will manage a team of payroll professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, compliance, and innovation.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience managing payroll operations within India, preferably across multiple legal entities.
- Proven track record of handling large employee populations with high accuracy and compliance standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline. An MBA or PGDM qualification is preferred.
- Deep expertise in Indian payroll legislation, statutory requirements, and compliance frameworks such as PF, ESIC, Gratuity, Income Tax, and Labour Laws.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and experience with payroll systems, HRIS, and finance system integrations.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and external vendors.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor, develop, and motivate a high-performing team.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the end-to-end payroll processing for a large and diverse employee base across multiple legal entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure full compliance with all Indian payroll statutory requirements, including Provident Fund, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, Gratuity, Income Tax, Shops & Establishment Act, Payment of Wages Act, and other relevant laws.
- Standardize payroll processes, governance, and controls across various business units to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Drive automation initiatives by digitizing payroll workflows and optimizing HRIS and finance system integrations to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance,
Legal, and external payroll vendors to establish seamless payroll governance and operational workflows.
- Lead payroll audits, reconciliations, compliance reviews, and risk mitigation activities to uphold the integrity of payroll operations.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a dedicated payroll team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and compliance.
- Prepare and present payroll dashboards, MIS reports, compliance updates, and actionable insights to senior leadership for strategic decision-making.
