Trader-in-Residence - Platform Experience & Product Testing
Navia Markets Ltd. | Chennai | Full-Time
About the Role
Navia is building out its trading platform - Chart Trader, Scalper, OTM Trader, Expiry Trader, and Commodity workspaces, live option chains with Greeks, position and order management, and more - and we want someone who lives inside options and commodity markets to sit on the terminal with us, not just test it in a lab.
This isnt a QA role in the traditional sense. Were looking for someone whose trading is already obsessive - the kind of trader whos watching the chain from market open to well past midnight on commodities, who has strong, specific opinions about what makes a trading screen fast versus slow, and who will tell us bluntly when something weve built doesnt survive contact with a real, fast-moving market.
Youll trade on the platform daily, using your own strategies and instincts, and in return you give us the sharpest, most honest feedback loop we can get: what breaks under pressure, whats a genuine friction point versus a minor annoyance, and what a platform built by people who actually live in the market would look like.
What Youll Actually Do
- - Trade, every day, on Navia - index and stock options, and commodities - across your own strategies (scalping, positional, expiry-day, spreads, whatevers actually yours), using the platform as your primary or parallel terminal.
- Stress-test recent features as they ship - Chart Traders order lines and drag-to-modify, the option chains chain/depth/activity views, Scalpers quick-buy flow, Expiry Traders risk guardrails - before and after they go live to other users.
- Flag real problems fast - a laggy quote, a confusing order ticket, a Greeks number that doesnt match your mental model,
a workflow that takes three clicks when it should take one. We want this in real time, not in a quarterly survey.
- Think like an adversary of your own trades - deliberately push edge cases: fast expiry-day gamma moves, illiquid strikes, rapid order modification, high-frequency scalping - the scenarios that quietly break platforms that only get tested in calm conditions.
- Sit with product and engineering regularly to walk through what you found - not a formal ticket queue, a real conversation about what it felt like to trade on the platform that day.
- Have opinions, and defend them. If you think a feature is wrong, say so, and say why - from the seat of someone whod actually use it, not a spec.
Who You Are
- - You trade options and/or commodities because you want to, not because its your job - this is closer to a calling than a career move for you.
- Youre realistically on a trading terminal most of the day, every trading day - you already know what that rhythm feels like and youre looking for a setup that pays you to keep living it, with a real platform-shaping mandate attached.
- You have strong, specific opinions about trading platforms - you can articulate exactly why one brokers order ticket is better than anothers, why a particular charts latency bothers you, why a Greeks display is or isnt trustworthy at a glance.
- Youre comfortable with volatility and risk as a normal part of your day - expiry days, gamma spikes, fast markets - and you understand those conditions well enough to explain them, not just survive them.
- You communicate feedback clearly and without diplomacy padding - wed rather hear "this is broken and heres exactly why" than a softened version that takes three meetings to get to the real point.
- Comfortable working from our Chennai office and keeping market hours (and, given the trading patterns were testing, some evening/ commodities-hours availability too).
Nice to Have
- - Experience across multiple trading platforms/brokers, so your feedback comes with real comparative context.
- A track record (even informal) of trading through full option expiry cycles and commodity sessions, not just backtested strategies.
- Any history of giving structured product feedback - a trading community, a brokers beta program, your own notes/journal on what platforms get right or wrong.
What This Role Is Not
- - Its not a support or operations role.
- Its not a "test script" QA job - were not handing you a checklist, were handing you a live terminal and asking you to trade and tell us the truth.
- Its not a research/analyst desk - your job is the platform experience, not generating trade calls for others.
