We're looking for a Design Engineer to develop and maintain embedded Linux firmware for our PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch product line. You'll work across the stack — from bootloader and kernel driver bring-up to power management logic and network-facing management interfaces — collaborating closely with hardware and validation teams to bring recent switch platforms from prototype to production.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain embedded Linux firmware for managed PoE switch platforms (802.3af/at/bt)
· Implement and validate PoE power-budget, port-priority, and classification logic in coordination with PSE controller ICs.
· Write and debug kernel-level drivers (I2C, SPI, GPIO, UART) for switch-management peripherals
· Bring up new hardware revisions, diagnosing boot-time and flash-initialization failures using JTAG, serial console, and logic analyzers
· Build and extend SNMP/CLI-based management and health-monitoring features (port status, power draw, temperature)
· Support PCB bring-up and EVT/DVT testing, isolating firmware-vs-hardware faults
· Document firmware architecture,
register maps, and bring-up procedures
· Participate in code reviews and contribute to CI-based build/test pipelines
Required Qualifications
· B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)
· 2–3 years of hands-on embedded Linux firmware development
· Working knowledge of PoE standards (IEEE 802.3af/at/bt) and PSE/PD controller ICs
· Strong C programming skills; comfortable with kernel module and driver development
· Experience with I2C, SPI, GPIO, UART, and MDIO/MDC interfaces
· Familiarity with U-Boot, device tree, and cross-compilation toolchains
· Practical debugging skills using JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
· Proficiency with Git and Linux-based development workflows
Preferred Qualifications
· Exposure to Ethernet switch ASIC/PHY bring-up, VLAN/QoS configuration
· Experience with SNMP MIB integration or network management protocols
· Familiarity with Yocto/Buildroot-based BSP development
· Scripting experience in Python or Bash for test automation
· Prior work on networking or power-delivery hardware products
