Required / Mandatory Knowledge/Skills
- Install, configure, and harden Linux operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE) • Manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and SSH access in accordance with security policies
• Perform patch management, kernel upgrades, and software installations using native package managers (YUM, APT, Zypper)
• Monitor system performance, analyze logs, and troubleshoot issues related to CPU, memory, storage, and network
• Design, implement, and test backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery procedures
• Automate routine tasks and deployments with shell scripting (Bash), Python, or configuration-management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Deploy and manage virtualization (KVM, VMware) and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Integrate Linux servers with directory services (LDAP, Active Directory) and identity-management solutions
• Collaborate with network, storage, security, and application teams to support infrastructure projects and migrations
• Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, change records, and operational runbooks
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents in a 247 support model
• Stay current with emerging Linux technologies, security best practices, and industry standards
Required Qualifications: • 2+ years of hands-on Linux administration in a production setting
• Deep understanding of Linux file systems,
kernel parameters, boot process, and services management
• Proficiency with networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls) and storage integration (iSCSI, NFS)
• Strong scripting skills in Bash and familiarity with Python or Perl
• Experience with configuration-management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
• Solid experience with virtualization (KVM, VMware) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and incident-response abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Knowledge/Skills
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), or equivalent
• Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid-cloud architectures
• Familiarity with logging and monitoring stacks (ELK, Prometheus/Grafana, Nagios)
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements (CIS Benchmarks, NIST, PCI DSS)
• Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Terraform)
