Role & responsibilities
- Tax Manager
- About the Role
- This role involves comprehensive management of tax-related activities across India, the US, and other overseas jurisdictions. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with tax regulations, preparing various tax filings, responding to tax authorities, providing expert tax consultancy, and identifying opportunities for process improvement and risk mitigation.
- Key Responsibilities
- - Prepare Tax Audit, Transfer Pricing, Income Tax Returns, and other statutory forms based on detailed analysis of applicability clauses, sections, and information obtained through effective coordination with various functions.
- - Prepare US Federal and state income tax returns, along with Sales & Use tax returns in various states.
- - Coordinate with consultants in overseas countries for the preparation and review of Income Tax and Transfer Pricing related filings.
- - Prepare submissions in response to notices from US, Indian, and Overseas Tax Authorities.
- - Undertake detailed study of case history, conduct legal research on issues involved, and prepare appeal submissions for submission before Assessing Officer, CITA, DRP, ITAT, and Overseas Tax Authorities.
- - Provide consultancy on TDS applicability and withholding tax implications on overseas payments made by Indian entities after analyzing treaty benefits.
- - Undertake in-depth research to provide consultancy on M&A; transactions, capital gains issues, corporate structuring, and similar matters.
- - Analyze the tax implications of incentives given to employees and advise internal stakeholders (HR, Payroll teams) on tax-effective structures for employees on a need basis.
- - Keep self and team updated on tax reforms in the US, India, and overseas countries, and update team members and superiors on the impact on the Company and any necessary measures.
- - Perform analysis of new country travel business requests and present suggestions and business cases to management.
Review business contracts from a taxation perspective and advise business teams on tax implications for various billing structures.
- - Train and coach other team members on various tax-related activities.
- - Effectively liaise with external and internal stakeholders, including Indian and overseas consultants, Company corporate DT, and other internal functions of the Company.
- - Represent the organization externally on tax-related matters with conceptual clarity to justify the stances taken by the organization.
- - Understand current tax processes, effectively connect business processes with the tax function, and apply tools and process improvements to the tax function.
- - Take initiative to automate tasks to make the tax function more effective and efficient.
- - Identify, analyze, and highlight areas or events with potential tax risks.
- - Suggest strategies to manage and mitigate tax risks.
- -- Proactive approach to staying updated on tax reforms and driving process improvements and automation.
Preferred candidate profile
- Proven experience in tax preparation, audit, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions ( international).
- CA Mandatory
- - Strong understanding of direct and indirect taxation, transfer pricing, and withholding tax regulations.
- - Demonstrated ability to conduct legal research and prepare submissions for tax authorities and appellate bodies.
- - Experience in advising on complex tax matters, including M&A;, capital gains, and corporate structuring.
- - Ability to analyze business contracts and provide tax implications advice.
- - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- - Solid analytical skills with the ability to identify and mitigate tax risks.
