Role Overview:
August Assortments Private Limited, the company behind Loyka, is looking for a strong HR Business Partner with approximately 5-7 years of experience, ideally with meaningful exposure to manufacturing/factory environments and Industrial Relations (IR). The role requires someone who can combine a practical understanding of people and factory operations with the ability to design HR policies, strengthen processes, support business leaders and build a performance-driven culture. The person should be comfortable spending time both at the corporate office and manufacturing locations and should understand the realities of managing people in an operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Business Partnering
- Partner closely with business and functional leaders to understand manpower and organizational requirements.
- Translate business priorities into practical HR initiatives.
- Advise managers on people management, performance, organizational structure and employee-related matters.
- Work closely with leadership to improve productivity, accountability and employee engagement.
2. Industrial Relations & Factory HR
- Manage and support Industrial Relations (IR) matters at manufacturing locations.
- Have a robust understanding of factory HR practices, including workforce discipline, attendance, shifts, grievances and employee relations.
- Handle disciplinary matters, domestic enquiries and employee grievances where required.
- Work closely with plant/factory leadership to maintain a productive and compliant work environment.
- Ensure adherence to applicable labour laws and statutory HR requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with external consultants, contractors and relevant authorities where necessary.
3. HR Policies & Processes
- Develop, review and implement company-wide HR policies and SOPs aligned with business requirements.
- Build practical policies covering Attendance & Leave, Performance Management, Incentives & Variable Pay, Promotions & Appraisals, Employee Conduct & Discipline, Travel & Reimbursements, Rewards & Recognition, and Recruitment & Onboarding.
- Ensure policies are simple, scalable and effectively implemented across corporate and factory teams .
4. Performance Management
- Drive the annual and periodic Performance Management System (PMS).
- Help establish KRAs/KPIs and measurable performance expectations across functions.
- Partner with managers on performance reviews, development plans and performance improvement plans.
- Support the development of a high-performance and merit-based culture.
5. Talent & Organization Development
- Support manpower planning and recruitment for critical positions.
- Identify capability gaps and coordinate learning and development initiatives.
- Support succession planning and development of high-potential employees.
- Improve organizational structures and role clarity as the business scales .
6. Employee Engagement & Culture
- Develop initiatives to improve employee engagement, communication and retention.
- Act as a credible point of contact between employees, managers and leadership.
- Build a culture of ownership, transparency, accountability and performance.
- Conduct employee feedback and engagement initiatives and convert findings into actionable improvements.
7. HR Analytics & Governance
- Track key HR metrics including attrition, absenteeism, manpower costs, productivity and hiring.
- Provide periodic HR dashboards and insights to management.
- Ensure HR documentation, employee records and processes are maintained accurately.
- Identify HR risks and proactively recommend solutions.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Has 5-7 years of progressive HR experience.
- Has personally worked with or closely supported manufacturing plants/factories.
- Has hands-on exposure to Industrial Relations and labour-related matters.
- Understands both white-collar and blue-collar workforce management.
- Has experience creating and implementing HR policies rather than simply administering existing policies.
- Has strong business understanding and can connect HR initiatives with commercial and operational objectives.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization where systems and processes are continuously evolving.
- Can work independently and take ownership of HR projects from concept through implementation.
- Has strong communication, stakeholder-management and problem-solving skills.
- Is willing to visit manufacturing locations as required.
Educational Qualification Preferred:
- Master's degree in HR / Labour Relations / Personnel Management from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).
- Candidates from other leading HR institutes with strong IR + manufacturing HR experience will also be considered.
