Head of Product Design

Location: Hadapsar, Pune Experience: 5+ years in industrial/product design of physical, mass-manufactured consumer products

About the Role

We are looking for a creative, hands-on Head of Product Design to lead the end-to-end design of physical products in categories like corporate gifting, home décor, and desk accessories. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio of taking concepts from sketch to prototyping, development, and mass manufacturing using materials such as plastic, MDF, acrylic, metal, glass, wood, and resin. This is not a UI/UX, graphic design, or engineering design role. We need a product designer with a strong creative foundation and proven experience delivering finished, manufactured products.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the full product design lifecycle: concept ideation, sketching, 3D modelling, prototyping, design validation, and production handoff.
- Design new products and collections for corporate gifting, home décor, and desk accessories with a focus on aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability.
- Select and apply materials (plastic, MDF, acrylic, metal, glass, wood, resin, etc.) and finishes appropriate to product intent, cost targets, and production processes.
- Create detailed design specifications, drawings, and BOM inputs for vendors and internal manufacturing teams.
- Collaborate with sourcing, production, and quality teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and meet quality standards at scale.
- Research trends in home décor, gifting, and lifestyle products to build fresh,



commercially viable design directions.
- Maintain organised design files, sample libraries, and documentation for repeatable production.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial/product design of physical, mass-manufactured consumer products.
- Strong portfolio showing end-to-end product journeys: concept prototype production retail/manufactured goods.
- Proven work with materials such as plastic, MDF, acrylic, metal, glass, wood, resin, or similar.
- Experience in categories like corporate gifting, home décor, desk accessories, lifestyle products, or related hard-goods categories.
- Excellent sketching, 3D modelling (e.g., Rhino/SolidWorks/Fusion 360 or equivalent), and prototyping skills.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes (injection moulding, CNC, sheet metal, casting, finishing, assembly, etc.) and design for manufacturability.
- Strong creative sense with attention to form, proportion, colour, texture, and finish.

Nice to Have

- Experience working with Indian and/or international home décor/gifting brands or manufacturers.
- Exposure to cost engineering and value optimisation without compromising design intent.
- Basic understanding of packaging design as it relates to product protection and presentation.

What We Are Not Looking For

- UI/UX designers or digital product designers
- Pure graphic designers or illustrators.
- Engineering design roles focused only on mechanical/functional design without a solid creative product design foundation.
