Purpose

- To lead the MES strategy, design, implementation, integration, operation, and continuous improvement to ensure reliable, compliant, and optimized of MES solutions for our Battery Manufacturing facilities covering production lines.
- The role will act as a bridge between Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Automation, IT, and Digitalization teams to ensure real-time production visibility, process/product traceability, asset genealogy, process control, quality compliance, and manufacturing excellence.
- The candidate will be responsible for MES project execution during greenfield/brownfield plant setup, system commissioning, integration with enterprise systems, and ongoing operational support.

Key responsibilities MES Strategy & Digital Manufacturing

- Define and implement the MES roadmap aligned with business and manufacturing objectives, set standards, templates, adopt best practices across all manufacturing units and develop governance for release, change, and data integrity. Support in audit and compliances, establish battery passport.
- Ensure end-to-end digital traceability across battery manufacturing process from raw material sourcing/manufacturing to Cell, Module, Pack, and BESS manufacturing processes. Develop dashboards and reports for OEE, yield, throughput, scrap, rework, downtime, equipment utilisation, root cause analysis, etc
- Architecture & integrations: Drive MES architecture, data model, interfaces (API/OPC-UA/MQ), historization of the data, end to end process/product traceability and ensure robust connectivity with OT/IT systems.

MES Project Implementation & Commissioning

- Lead MES deployment, configuration, testing, validation, commissioning, and go-live activities.

Translate manufacturing processes into MES workflows, manage EBR/recipes/work orders configuration, and oversee MES test/validation (IQ/OQ/PQ where applicable).
- Work closely with EPC, automation vendors, machine suppliers, and system integrators, network management during project execution.
- Develop MES functional specifications, workflows, business rules, and process mapping.
- Manage MES project schedules, budgets, milestones, risks, and change requests.
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and production ramp-up.

Architecture & integrations:

- Drive, develop and maintain MES architecture, data model, interfaces (SQL, API/OPC-UA/MQ etc), and ensure robust connectivity with OT/IT systems and other industrial communication interfaces to ensure seamless data flow between shop-floor equipment and business systems.
- Lead end-to-end MES implementations, upgrades, integrations (ERP/SAP, PLM, LIMS, QMS, SCADA, PLCs, FMCS, Cyber security compliance, EMS, WMS, ASRS, Digital transformation), and rollouts across sites with project management and stakeholder coordination.
- Extended support and enable compatibility for predictive and prescriptive manufacturing analytics through AI/ML-based manufacturing optimization initiatives.
- Data & analytics: Ensure MES data quality,

produce performance dashboards (OEE, yield, scrap, throughput, scarp, rework), reports, data historization and restoration, enable actionable analytics for manufacturing excellence.
- Operations & maintenance support: Own 24x7 MES production support model, SLA/KPI definitions, incident management, and fault resolution processes.
- Security & compliance: Ensure MES meets OT security standards, change control, audit readiness, Manage upgrades, patches, releases, and disaster recovery procedures and regulatory requirements (ISO, GMP, or industry-specific).
- Team leadership: Build and manage a cross-functional MES team (developers, integrators, software/hardware, SMEs, support engineers, network management), set objectives, and mentor technical leads.
- Vendor & procurement: Manage vendor relationships, contracts, third-party integrators, and evaluate recent MES-related tools or modules.
- Budget & ROI: Own MES budget, forecast, and demonstrate ROI through cost avoidance, productivity gains, and quality improvements.

Qualifications & experience:

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer Science, IT, Automation, or related discipline).; Masters preferred.
- 10+ years in manufacturing IT/OT roles, with at least 5 years’ experience leading MES programs or teams.
- Experience in discrete/continuous manufacturing (specify industry: e.g., Giga factory setup/battery/solar/semiconductor) is a plus.
- Proven track record of MES implementations, integrations (with ERP, SCADA, PLCs, and shop-floor automation), and managing vendors.
- MES Certification or Vendor Certification is an added advantage.
