Job Title: Head of Department - Computer Science (Academic)

Required Experience: Min 7 years location: Saraswati Group of Colleges, Mohali

Expected Joining: Immediate to 15 days

Budget: upto 11 LPA The Head of Department (HOD) – Computer Science is a senior academic leadership role responsible for driving the overall academic excellence, strategic direction, and operational management of the Computer Science Department. The incumbent will lead the faculty team, oversee curriculum development, promote research initiatives, ensure high-quality teaching standards, and drive continuous academic improvement. The role also involves supporting the development and delivery of NextGen, industry-aligned academic programs.

The ideal candidate should be an experienced academician with strong leadership, faculty management, communication, and academic administration skills, along with a strong understanding of current Computer Science technologies and industry trends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Academic Leadership & Teaching Excellence

- Provide strategic direction for academic delivery across undergraduate and postgraduate Computer Science programs.
- Ensure high-quality teaching standards, innovative teaching methodologies, and outcome-based learning.
- Mentor and guide faculty members to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
- Monitor academic performance and ensure timely completion of academic plans, courses, and assessments.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

2. Faculty Management & Development

- Lead faculty recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management.
- Conduct regular faculty reviews and provide constructive feedback for career development.
- Identify training and development requirements for faculty members.
- Ensure effective faculty utilization and workload management.
- Build a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing academic team.

3. Research & Academic Growth





- Promote and develop a strong research culture within the department.
- Guide faculty and students in research projects, publications, conferences, and other academic initiatives.
- Encourage participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, and professional development activities.
- Develop collaborations with industry, universities, and academic institutions for research and knowledge exchange.
- Encourage practical, industry-relevant projects and innovation initiatives.

4. Curriculum Development & Quality Assurance

- Lead the design, review, and implementation of Computer Science curricula.
- Support the development of NextGen and industry-aligned academic programs.
- Ensure curriculum alignment with current industry trends, emerging technologies, and academic requirements.
- Oversee assessments, academic audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure effective implementation of academic policies, processes, and quality standards.

5. Student Development & Engagement

- Support initiatives focused on student learning, engagement, employability, and overall academic development.
- Encourage students to participate in projects, competitions, hackathons, internships, certifications, and industry-oriented activities.
- Guide students in academic and career-related matters.
- Promote real-world learning and practical exposure through industry projects and collaborations.

6. Administrative & Institutional Responsibilities

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Computer Science Department.
- Ensure smooth coordination between faculty, students,



and institutional leadership.
- Participate in institutional planning, accreditation, compliance, and academic review activities.
- Support admissions and student engagement initiatives as required.
- Represent the department in internal and external academic forums.
- Prepare and review departmental reports, academic plans, and performance updates.

REQUIREMENTS

- B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering or a closely related discipline, along with M.Tech / M.E. in Computer Science & Engineering or a closely related discipline; OR
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university/institution.

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum 7 years of experience in the education industry after completion of Master's degree.
- Strong teaching and academic administration experience in higher education.
- Prior experience as HOD, Program Head, Academic Coordinator, or in a similar academic leadership role will be highly preferred.
- Experience in faculty management, curriculum development, academic planning, and institutional coordination will be an added advantage.
