Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced, growth-oriented Fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead our marketing strategy and drive measurable business outcomes. This is not a hands-on execution role; instead, you will act as a senior strategic partner to the CEO, owning the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy, brand positioning, and demand generation architecture . You will provide the executive leadership needed to build a scalable marketing engine and align all marketing activities with revenue KPIs .
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and own the comprehensive marketing strategy and GTM roadmap, translating business objectives into actionable marketing plans .
- Define and refine market positioning, messaging, and brand architecture for target customer segments and new market entries .
- Lead the development of the marketing budget, allocating resources across channels to maximize Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI) .
- Revenue Growth & Demand Generation:
- Architect and oversee the demand generation and pipeline architecture to build a repeatable and scalable growth engine .
- Own and optimize key performance indicators including Net New ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) payback period, pipeline velocity, and LTV:CAC ratio .
- Partner with Sales leadership to ensure alignment on lead quality (MQL to SQL conversion), service level agreements (SLAs), and overall funnel performance .
- Operational Excellence & Team Mentorship:
- Assess, refine, and lead the marketing operating rhythm, including dashboards, analytics, and accountability structures .
- Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to the internal marketing team, helping to distinguish between "urgent" and "important" to maximize impact .
- Manage and orchestrate external agencies, freelancers,
and technology vendors to ensure cohesive execution .
First 90-Day Plan
- First 30 Days (Assessment): Conduct a deep-dive audit of current channels, messaging, tech stack, data quality, and team capabilities to identify quick wins and foundational gaps .
- Next 60 Days (Strategy & Activation): Develop the GTM strategy and roadmap, aligning it with revenue models and budgets, and begin implementation of priority programs to build pipeline momentum .
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 12 years in senior marketing leadership roles, with prior experience as a CMO, VP of Marketing, or Head of Growth .
- Industry Expertise: Proven track record of scaling companies at our stage (e.g., from 0 to 10M ARR) in [B2B SaaS / D2C / advertising / Recruitment, etc.] or a closely adjacent industry . Mandatory: Deep fluency in service metrics (CAC, LTV, NRR, Churn) .
- Leadership: Strong executive presence with the ability to influence the CEO, board, and cross-functional leaders (Sales, Product) .
- Strategic & Operational: Demonstrated ability to build systems and governance, not just run campaigns. Proven success in building a brand and setting up a marketing engine for long-term growth .
Engagement Specifications
- Time Commitment: 10 hours per month, structured as a monthly retainer .
- Term: 3- to 6-month initial engagement, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes and quick wins .
- Key Success Metrics: Net New ARR, CAC Payback, Pipeline Velocity, Marketing-Attributed Revenue .
