1. Job Purpose

The Fitter is responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and machinery to ensure smooth and uninterrupted plant operations. The role involves preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and supporting systems.
1. Key Job Responsibilities

Machine & Equipment Maintenance
- Carry out maintenance and repair of EOT Cranes.
- Perform maintenance of CNC Machines and associated mechanical systems.
- Maintain machinery and equipment of the Galvanizing Plant.
- Carry out maintenance activities for:

- EOT Cranes

- Scrubbers

- Dryers

- Transfer Trolleys

- Conveyors

- Burners
- Other plant machinery and equipment
- Perform Hydraulic Machine Maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Carry out maintenance and repair of Mechanical Power Presses.
- Attend machine breakdowns and ensure timely restoration of equipment.

Installation & Assembly
- Assemble, fit, align, and install mechanical systems and equipment.
- Carry out installation of machinery and mechanical components as per technical requirements.
- Perform dismantling, replacement, and reassembly of defective mechanical parts.
- Ensure proper alignment, fitting, and functioning of installed equipment.

Fabrication & Technical Work
- Perform basic gas cutting and welding activities as required for maintenance work.
- Read and understand technical drawings, mechanical drawings, and equipment layouts.
- Identify required tools, materials, and spare parts for maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with the supervisor regarding maintenance requirements and technical issues.

Preventive Maintenance & Records
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain daily maintenance logbooks and other relevant records.
- Record machine breakdowns, repairs, maintenance activities, and spare parts used.




- Report recurring equipment issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Provide timely information regarding spare parts and material requirements to the superior.

Shift & Safety Responsibilities
- Be willing and able to work in shifts as per plant requirements.
- Follow all company safety procedures while carrying out maintenance work.
- Use appropriate PPE and safety equipment during maintenance activities.
- Maintain proper housekeeping in the work area.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.

- Machine uptime and availability
- Timely completion of preventive maintenance
- Breakdown response and resolution time
- Reduction in repetitive machine breakdowns
- Accuracy of maintenance records
- Proper identification of spare parts requirements
- Compliance with safety procedures
- Quality of maintenance and fitting work

1. Educational Qualification

- ITI Fitter
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.

1. Experience

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Fitter.
- Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, galvanizing, engineering, or heavy industrial plant will be preferred.
- Hands-on experience in maintenance of cranes, CNC machines, hydraulic machines, power presses, conveyors, and other mechanical equipment is desirable.
