The Role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on DevOps/SRE engineer to own and scale our Azure cloud infrastructure and production Kubernetes platform. This is a role for someone who has done this before, who knows how to run production-grade infrastructure at scale, build trust with engineering teams, and keep systems reliable, secure, and fast to deploy.
You will own infrastructure end to end: from architecture and automation to CI/CD, security, and incident response. This is not a role for someone looking to learn the ropes. We want someone who can hit the ground running and take ownership of our platform from day one. And you don't stop at deployment; you stay close to production, driving reliability and operational excellence until systems are stable, secure, and scaling with the business.
We are a small, flat team. You will work directly alongside the engineers building the product, and what you do here will directly shape how reliably and securely [Company Name] scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and optimize Azure infrastructure, AKS, and production environments end to end.
- Design and maintain Kubernetes workloads using Helm and Kustomize.
- Automate infrastructure as code with Terraform and Ansible.
- Build and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployments using Flux CD/Argo CD.
- Manage Azure Front Door, Firewall, WAF, networking, Entra ID, and GSA.
- Troubleshoot MySQL connectivity and configuration issues.
- Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting using Datadog.
- Drive DevSecOps practices across the org, including SAST, DAST, and IAST.
- Automate operational tasks using Bash/Python.
- Lead production troubleshooting, incident response, reliability improvements, and operational automation.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and deployment standards.
- Collaborate closely with development and engineering teams to improve reliability, security, and delivery speed.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud, or Platform Engineering, with a clear, demonstrable track record of running production infrastructure at scale.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure, Kubernetes/AKS, Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.
- Experience with Flux CD/Argo CD, Helm, and Kustomize.
- Strong Bash/Python scripting skills.
- Experience with Azure networking, Front Door, Firewall, WAF, Entra ID, and GSA.
- Working knowledge of DevSecOps practices, SAST/DAST/IAST, MySQL, and Datadog.
- Solid production troubleshooting and incident-management skills — be ready to talk through past incidents, MTTR, and reliability improvements you've driven.
- AZ-104 + AZ-305/AZ-400 certifications preferred; CKA is a plus.
Nice to have:
- Experience running HA production Kubernetes platforms at scale
- Istio / service mesh and enterprise security-networking experience
- Fast-paced product/startup background
- Open to on-call rotation for critical production support
What Makes Someone Successful Here
- A self-starting owner: you take charge of infrastructure end to end and don't wait to be told what's broken.
- Production-minded: you think in terms of reliability, security, and blast radius, not just "does it deploy."
- Resourceful and calm under pressure: you can debug a production incident at 2am and still document it clearly afterward.
- Security-conscious by default: DevSecOps isn't a checkbox for you — it's baked into how you build.
- Accountable beyond the pipeline: you stay close to systems post-deployment until they're genuinely stable, not just "shipped."
- Collaborative and communicative: you work closely with developers and don't need to be chased for updates or status.
What We Offer
- Ownership of core infrastructure with real technical autonomy and direct access to the engineering leadership.
- Competitive compensation [add: + equity/ESOPs if applicable].
- Room to grow with the business as it scales.
